In an industry-leading first, we are proud to announce our expanded partnership with HowGood, which offers a full view of Scope 3 emissions (data that represents all of the indirect carbon emissions produced throughout the supply chain). This first-of-its-kind partnership provides actionable data and insights that empower our guests to make choices that support our and our partner campus' shared sustainability goals. “A large majority of that product’s impact can be measured upstream, earlier in the supply chain, with respect to how that ingredient was grown, how much land it took to grow it, the processing method, the transportation of those ingredients to the next part of the supply chain. That’s really hard to measure, that’s the Scope 3 part of the calculation, and that’s the part that we are really good at at HowGood. That's what we’re seeing food and beverage brands are really interested in wanting to get a better handle on and better visibility over, and influence their suppliers, their co-manufacturers, their upstream partners, to adopt better practices so that the company’s overall footprint is smaller. It’s not the flashy stuff that makes headlines. Even if you have a brand that says we’re slowing down or extending our targets to a later date or we’re thinking differently about packaging, that doesn’t take away from the fact that behind the scenes they have teams that are really invested in growing and sourcing better ingredients and looking at more energy-efficient ways of manufacturing upstream." - Ramya Ravishankar, General Counsel at HowGood in FoodNavigator https://lnkd.in/ei2NG6Rq

🌍 Today is #Science, #Technology, and #Innovation Day at #CCDCOP16. Data-driven solutions are indispensable to scale #RegenerativeAgriculture. Better agricultural #data enables companies to evaluate the environmental and social impacts of their supply chains, empowering smarter, more targeted decisions that support regenerative practices. 📊 To meet this challenge and scale regenerative agriculture, OP2B member HowGood, operates the world’s largest food impact database, with over 90,000 farm emission datasets. This approach data companies to make more nuanced decisions. Relying on global averages can lead to misguided decisions. Each crop and region yields different results. Their collaboration with OP2B has led to the development of innovative tools like the Ingredient Diversity Index and the piloting of #biodiversity and #carbon metrics, driving meaningful progress towards sustainable food systems. ➡️ Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dC2Nencv ➡️ This story is part of a series that highlights OP2B members' commitment to scaling regenerative agriculture.
