Huge shoutout to Edward Hershey, Jessica Hershey, and the amazing team at Home of Guiding Hands for hosting an unforgettable Cars, Cards & Cigars Poker Tournament at the San Diego Automotive Museum in beautiful Balboa Park! My colleague Stephanie Pilecki and I had an absolute blast admiring the exotic cars, connecting with the fantastic crowd, and enjoying some thrilling Texas Hold'em! We held our own, too - I placed 4th and Stephanie 7th out of 40 talented players! Big congratulations to the Top 3 Winners: Tom Tamar, Cory Burke, and Jessica Hershey, you guys and gal rocked the table! But the real winners are the incredible individuals supporting Home of Guiding Hands! As one of San Diego and Imperial Counties' largest organizations providing disability support services and their mission is truly inspiring. Wanting to improve the lives of those they serve. Their vision is to be recognized as the premier provider of disability services in San Diego of a dynamic spectrum of individualized services supporting persons with special needs. My wife and I are eager to collaborate with Home of Guiding Hands, as we understand the everyday joys and challenges of raising little ones on the spectrum like many other families. Lastly, I want to thank Shai Garcia-Mays. She has been spectacular since the moment I met her at our network group. You can feel her unwavering passion and dedicated service when it comes to HGH's mission. I am so glad I have met you Shai and I want to personally thank you for opening a new horizon for my family. Thank you again, Home of Guiding Hands, for an unforgettable evening and for all you do to make a difference! #HomeOfGuidingHands #DisabilitySupport #CommunityFirst #CarsCardsCigars #PokerTournament #SanDiego #BalboaPark

We are thrilled to announce that Wendy Smith has been recognized by the San Diego Press Club, winning third place in the Public Service/Consumer Advocacy category for her insightful article, "Building a Bridge: The when and how of life planning." 🏆 Wendy's work is a powerful reminder of the transformative impact that early and thoughtful life planning can have for families and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). In her award-winning article, Wendy highlights the challenges that families face as they transition from school to adulthood—a period filled with questions, concerns, and uncertainty. Programs like our Life Planning workshop series empower families by providing guidance on building a better future, helping them understand the right questions to ask, evaluate their options, and define a vision that aligns with their child's unique needs and aspirations. To learn more about our Life Planning program, visit guidinghands.org or reach out directly to Wendy at [email protected]. Let’s celebrate Wendy’s achievement and the difference her advocacy makes! 🌟 #Congratulations #LifePlanning #IDD #CommunityImpact #SanDiegoPressClub #HomeOfGuidingHands #Empowerment #Advocacy #SanDiego
