Dr Kah shared insights from his courses focused on gerontechnology and disabilities, where students are empowered to design equipment that truly meets the needs of community clients. The blueprints developed during these courses are made open source, ensuring a wider social impact and promoting accessibility for all.    Let’s continue to foster empathy and collaboration in our approach to technology and service-learning. • Back in October, students from our service-learning course HUMN2057 had the chance to visit two elderly care centres and engage with local caregivers. During their conversations, students gained new perspectives on the caregivers’ lives, understanding how they cope with their struggles and how caregiving can be a challenging task. After their interactions with the caregivers, students reflected on their conversations and presented their experiences and feelings by creating mini albums with photos of the caregivers, along with their own writings. An exhibition was held last week to showcase the mini albums at TriAngle at the Centre for Innovative Service-Learning. We are grateful to have the caregivers join us for the opening ceremony, sharing heartwarming moments with our students. This service-learning course aims to develop holistic well-being using arts and humanities approaches. Through the students’ work, we hope to share with the community the importance of and the difficulties faced by caregivers, encouraging community members to care not only for aging citizens but also for their caregivers. • 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗽: 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗮𝗿  Back on 1-4 November, our service-learning courses 𝗘𝗨𝗥𝗢𝟰𝟬𝟭𝟲, 𝗣𝗢𝗟𝗦𝟮𝟮𝟬𝟱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗢𝗟𝗦𝟮𝟮𝟬𝟲 jointly organised the inspiring '𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗮𝗿' event series. Students from the European Studies Programme explored the profound impact of war, delving into themes of remembrance, veterans' experiences and refugees' stories, all while championing the cause of peace. Through heartfelt interviews with veterans and organisations supporting them, our students created powerful posters to raise awareness. These posters were proudly exhibited alongside the "Lost and Found in Hong Kong: The Unsung Chinese Heroes at D-Day" display. We were also honoured to have guest speakers from across the world to share their invaluable insights and moving stories with us. The footage captured by our students will soon be transformed into a documentary, giving you a complete look at this meaningful service-learning project. Stay tuned! • Reflecting on an incredible journey!   Last week, we hosted a finale at TriAngle to celebrate the culmination of our service-learning activities, during which our students from CMED3058 Orthopaedics and Traumatology of Chinese Medicine and Tui Na I provided three sessions of treatments to participants from The Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation. During the finale, our students shared insightful reflections on their experiences, discussing how they approached and analyzed different medical cases. This hands-on involvement not only enriched their clinical knowledge but also highlighted the significance of empathy and understanding in Traditional Chinese Medicine. 💚🤝 We are thankful for the chance to make a positive impact in the lives of our community members and are excited to continue this vital partnership!
