It’s a long-standing tradition that David B. Uhaze, RA (FGI Health Guidelines Revision Committee) closes the year by sharing the latest updates to FGI guidelines and the NJ DCA review process at Healthcare Facility Management Society of New Jersey (HFMSNJ)’s November meetings. Updates to NJ DCA included ongoing staffing challenges, a 20-day review timeline, and the introduction of Self-Certification for certain project types, streamlining approvals but excluding high-risk structures. The FGI revisions emphasized new standards for ER Low Acuity Treatment Areas, improvements to behavioral health, neonatal care, and outpatient facilities, such as reduced birthing room sizes and enhanced forensic exam spaces. Looking forward to the 2026 FGI edition, key topics cover building system upgrades, flexible rural hospital designs, rehabilitation space standards, and behavioral health seclusion requirements. The lecture shifted focus on FGI`s ongoing effort to meet evolving demands while improving operational efficiency - setting the stage for smarter, more adaptable healthcare design. #HealthcareDesign #FGIGuidelines #HospitalPlanning #HealthcareInnovation #FacilityDesign #ProjectManagement #OutpatientFacilities #BehavioralHealth #RuralHealthcare #HealthcareArchitecture #NJDCA
