𝑮𝒊𝒇𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑯𝒐𝒑𝒆: 𝑨 𝑫𝒂𝒚 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑶𝒖𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉 pt. 2 Part 2 of my ride-along with Haven's Outreach team. As we approach the holiday season, the spirit of giving fills the Haven for Hope campus. While our campus provides warmth and comfort for many, our work extends beyond it. This year, we want to highlight our Street Outreach Program, serving those still on San Antonio’s streets. While we’ve expanded our outreach efforts by 45% in the last year, the demand continues to rise. We cannot continue this vital work alone. Will you help us reach those who need it most? We ask you to join us this holiday season by donating to our Gift of Hope campaign. Regardless of the dollar amount, your contribution can positively impact those still on the streets. Your generosity can make the difference between someone spending the holidays outdoors and finding warmth and hope on the Haven for Hope campus. 𝑮𝒊𝒇𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑯𝒐𝒑𝒆: 𝑨 𝑫𝒂𝒚 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑶𝒖𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉 pt. 1 I joined our amazing Outreach team for a ride-along to see what a typical day looks like as they traverse the streets of San Antonio to reach and serve those most in need. As the leading housing provider for the homeless in San Antonio, we engage with those with nowhere else to turn, offering them hope, dignity, and a chance to rebuild their lives. The impact of our Street Outreach team is undeniable. In the past year, we connected with more than 600 individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness and successfully moved 309 people to shelter. By building trust and offering critical support, our outreach workers become a lifeline for those struggling to survive on the streets. Many of these individuals may never have found the help they needed without Haven’s outreach team. This holiday season, give the gift of hope to the families and individuals who call Haven for Hope their home. Support Haven's mission and our clients by donating to our Gift of Hope campaign today. 𝑮𝒊𝒇𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑯𝒐𝒑𝒆: 𝑨𝒎𝒆𝒆𝒓'𝒔 𝑺𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚 Haven’s Campus Life team. “I want to offer help to people on a bigger scale, outside of Haven’s gates, especially when they are most vulnerable,” Ameer said of his new role. “Every day, I see 30-40 clients,” Ameer shares. “I want them to know they aren’t judged, and that help is available. Their lives can change.” This is important to Ameer because he received help when he needed it the most. He is in recovery from substance use disorder. Through treatment, he learned the value of giving back and how it helps his long-term recovery. “When I was struggling, I remember feeling hopeless and scared, and I felt a calling to help others in similar situations. There’s no greater feeling than being able to inspire a little bit of hope in people,” Ameer said. Ameer said there are many stereotypes about the community’s unsheltered population. Individuals experiencing homelessness are not necessarily struggling with addiction or behavioral health issues. He has met many people who are victims of unfortunate situations. Ameer wishes everyone could meet our unsheltered population and see their potential. He is grateful he has that opportunity every day, a chance to make a difference in the lives of those he meets. This holiday season, give the gift of hope to the families and individuals who call Haven for Hope their home. Support Haven's mission and our clients by donating to our Gift of Hope campaign today.
