In a Silicon Valley culture known for “grindset” founders, Jensen Huang still manages to stand out. https://lnkd.in/efuj-j_4 The NVIDIA chief executive told Stripe CEO Patrick Collison earlier this year that he is either working, or thinking about work, every waking moment—and that he works seven days a week. “If you want to build something great, it’s not easy. You have to suffer, you have to struggle, you have to endeavor,” Huang said. “And there are no such things that are great, that are easy to do.“ Well, no one doubts Huang has built something great. Under his leadership, Nvidia has positioned itself at the heart of the artificial intelligence boom. Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/efuj-j_4

Rent The Runway hit 15 years old last month. At the helm of the business still is CEO Jennifer Hyman, who cofounded the clothing rental service when she was a 27-year-old business school student. Hyman has seen Rent the Runway through its highs—like the late 2010s, when its unlimited subscription service had started to become ubiquitous in certain markets—and its lows, like the cratering of its business during COVID shortly thereafter. In the years since, Rent the Runway has struggled, and a true attempt at a turnaround is still in its early days. Through it all, Hyman has asked herself two questions to determine if she should remain at the helm of the business: Is she tired? And, more importantly, “Do I still believe?” Read more from Fortune Most Powerful Women: https://lnkd.in/e9craCzR

Take one look at income tax rates in New York—and the median cost of a one-bedroom apartment with no natural light—and it’s no wonder why people who can afford to are flocking elsewhere. With no state income tax at all, Florida and Texas are the No. 1 and No. 2 destinations for high-earning millennials on the move, according to a report from SmartAsset. Using data from the IRS and the 2021 tax year, SmartAsset measured net migration patterns (the inflow of new high earners minus the outflow) among young professionals ages 26 to 35 bringing in at least $200,000 a year. Amazon’s return-to-office policy announced in September, mandating employees work in person five days a week starting in 2025, has workers irritated. https://lnkd.in/eambPsPC Some have even begun “rage-applying” to new positions, wanting to stick it to the tech company. The trouble for them: that could be exactly the response Amazon was hoping for. The tech mammoth’s strict RTO push might just be a sneaky means of laying off workers, some future-of-work experts say. This holiday season, as you peruse the aisles of your local Walmart, you might come across a five-foot-tall Nutcracker decoration. Over at Sam's Club, the glint of a lab-grown diamond might catch your eye. And overseas, it might be wasabi macadamia nuts that find their way into your cart. These products are but three small examples of the bets being placed by the chief merchants and top sourcing executive at Walmart Inc.’s major divisions to win the highly competitive holiday season. These items didn’t just land on shelves randomly, of course. They and the hundreds of thousands of other products on store shelves and online, were chosen, often at least a year ago, by teams of buyers led by Latriece Watkins, chief merchant at Walmart U.S., the company’s biggest division at 69% of its $650 billion in sales; Megan Crozier, chief merchant at Sam’s Club; and Andrea Albright, whose responsibilities include serving as executive vice president for sourcing at Walmart. Here's how they decide what you'll buy: https://lnkd.in/e_HnkHhN

Affordable child care is more than a family issue—it’s an economic imperative. Investing in child care supports women, empowers families, and drives growth. Expanding the global childcare workforce to meet current needs could create millions of jobs, a powerful reminder of its far-reaching impact. As Blessing Oyeleye Adesiyan writes, “time poverty”—the reality that women often juggle too many unpaid care responsibilities and not enough time for paid work—is holding families, businesses, and economies back. She proposes a path forward that prioritizes flexibility, addresses “time poverty,” and promotes shared caregiving responsibilities, to help unlock economic opportunities for women and entire communities. Chasing an ambulance through three red lights as a backup cops beat reporter, Rich Eisen had an epiphany. “I am nothing more than an ambulance chaser right now, and I should probably try and buckle down and follow a dream,” Eisen recalled in an interview with Fortune. Eisen was once a crime reporter, but now is a storied sports broadcaster and podcaster with his own brand to stand him up. In 2022, Emmy-nominated “The Rich Eisen Show” made its leap from NBCUniversal’s Peacock to Roku, cementing his popularity among sports and entertainment fans alike. Having broken free from the large sportscasting networks like ESPN, Eisen has paved his own way and turned sportscasting on its head. “The Rich Eisen Show” combines two popular interests—sports and entertainment—balancing power rankings of professional sports leagues with guests like Larry David, Jerry Seinfeld, Mila Kunis, and even vice presidential nominee Tim Walz. But it took some time for Eisen to develop his own vision and own brand—and to become a six-time Sports Emmy nominee in the Outstanding Studio Host category. https://lnkd.in/e7THf5Xy
