Unlocking access to mental health care is important — but so is ensuring that it's the right care. At the Behavioral Health Tech conference this week, Headway executive Olivia Millard Davis joined a panel of industry experts to discuss how to take access a step further — to get the right patients to the right care at the right time. Thank you to Liz Freedman, Frank Webster and Hossam M. for joining us to speak on this topic, and to Kacie Kelly for facilitating the conversation.

Mental Health Care
Building a new mental healthcare system that everyone can access.
About us
Headway is building a new mental healthcare system that everyone can access making it easy for therapists to accept insurance and scale their practice. 1 in 4 people in the US have a treatable mental health condition, but the vast majority do not get the care they need. The primary reason is cost: the majority of therapists do not accept insurance, meaning paying for therapy is prohibitively expensive for prospective patients. This is where we got our start – Headway has built the first software-enabled network of therapists who accept health insurance, making it easy for therapists to grow their practices, and possible for patients to find quality care they can afford. Headway was founded in 2019 and are now powering 600,000+ appointments per month. To scale its vision, Headway has raised over $325 million in funding from a16z (Andreessen Horowitz), Thrive, Accel, and GV (formerly Google Ventures), Spark Capital, Forerunner Ventures and Health Care Service Corporation. Join us, and make an impact We believe a team's strength is in its people, and we cannot achieve this mission without a team that reflects the diversity of this problem - across race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, age, national origin, religion, family status, disability, military status, and experience. Headway employees work remotely across the US, with the option to work from our NYC (HQ) or SF offices. Headway is committed to the full inclusion of all qualified individuals. As part of this commitment, Headway will ensure that persons with disabilities are provided with reasonable accommodations. If reasonable accommodation is needed to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and/or to receive other benefits and privileges of employment, please contact talent@findheadway.com.

“As clinicians in behavioral health, we understand that we can only help our patients to the degree that we understand what’s happening for them,” Jeff Gould, MD, senior medical director and head of Headway’s clinical team, told Behavioral Health Business. “We’re trying to move from a symptom-focused assessment tool to one that, in one tool, can assess functional abilities as well.” Thank you to Morgan Gonzales at Behavioral Health Business for covering our partnership with the National Quality Forum (NQF)! https://lnkd.in/e_nGd46Q

At Headway, we’re focused on empowering clinicians and their patients to better understand the effectiveness of care. Today, we’re proud to share our involvement in a cross-industry initiative led by the National Quality Forum (NQF) to develop a next-generation assessment tool for understanding functional progress in treating depression and anxiety. We’re proud to partner across the industry – and engage the providers on our platform – to help develop the next generation of behavioral health measures. We had an incredible time at HLTH USA last week! Headway Founder & CEO Andrew Adams and Thrive Capital Partner Kareem Zaki took to the stage to discuss how best to build and leverage the founder/investor relationship. During the conversation, Andrew Adams shared why he founded Headway after struggling to find a therapist who accepted his insurance — and how that has led to our vision for the future of mental health care.

Headway not only credentials providers with health plans, but we support them with clinical and compliance resources. Intake sessions set the tone for the therapeutic relationship and help providers craft effective treatment plans.
