During the FARMpreneurs™ Strategic Sprint, farmers operationalize their values. The values that farmers hold differentiate them from their competitors, but often, those values don’t show up clearly across their organization in their day-to-day activities. The FARMprenuers program equips you to take those values from generic to being specifically unique to your farm. One of the most unique aspects of the FARMpreneurs™ strategic sprint is the playbook. Farmers arrive at the program with a big goal they want to focus on. Throughout this program, participants work through exercises guided by industry leaders to gain clarity on how they can achieve that goal. Eventually, they assemble a pitch deck solidifying those strategies to clearly communicate what they learned during the program to their key stakeholders, partners, team members, and future investors.   For Emma Jagoz, that was a surprise! Most farmers have never built a pitch deck to be presented to investors or potential partners. The FARMpreneurs™ strategic sprint is unique. This is not a basic business program where farmers are learning accounting, bookkeeping, or creating a production plan. This program is built for farmers with big goals to transform their local food system. This is a graduate school for farmers who already have an established business. This is a semester of Berkeley social entrepreneurship with Will Rosenzweig condensed into a week, designed specifically for climate-smart farmers. It’s intensive – farmers in the past have worked 12-18 hours per day, but it’s fun, and they are taken care of. Participants are in the presence of peers and a fellowship of ambitious farmers on flagship regenerative farms, learning from each other and witnessing cutting-edge social entrepreneurial techniques in practice. #regenerativeagriculture #climate #farming #organicfarming #agriculture #soilhealth #food #local

FARMpreneurs™ applications are closed for our January business sprints. And we are now more inspired than ever! We received more than 50 farmer applications, and many more joined our waitlist to apply for future cohorts closer to their regions! There is clearly a demand for entrepreneurial assistance for farmers aiming to be stewards of their land and feed their communities. After decades of teaching social entrepreneurial education and food system change, Will Rosenzweig noticed farmers needed to include business-building resources and financial support that other industries, like software and technology, were receiving. He collaborated with many people to develop a curriculum that fit for farmers. They launched their first two cohorts in 2019 and 2020 at Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture and Blue Hill At Stone Barns. Unfortunately, it paused due to the pandemic. But they are relaunching with two strategic sprints in January. And they are still looking for farmers to attend. FARMpreneurs™ is making a difference. 100% of farmers who attended our strategic sprint in 2020 are... 👩🏻🌾 - still farming 📈 - increased their profits 🌎 - increased climate-smart practices 🫱🏽🫲🏻 - reported a direct positive impact on their local community We have two more strategic sprints scheduled for January, which will equip more farmers with the entrepreneurial skills and professional network to transform their local food systems and grow their farms profitably! Take Jesse Smith from White Buffalo Land Trust, for example. He developed and refined a strategy for a value-added product made from the fully-regenerative production at White Buffalo Land Trust. The FARMpreneurs™ program helped him develop a rubric for testing and prioritizing new product opportunities while creating a clear strategy and presentation for his organization's board and future funders. Voilà, Figure Ate was born.
