We've been doing this work for 45 years and we're not stopping now. The fight for equality, freedom, and protection for LGBTQ+ families continues. We're proud to join our movement partners in re-committing to work together to advance LGBTQ+ freedom no matter what the future holds. "We know that so much more work lies ahead of us. Yet as an LGBTQIA2S+ movement, we will continue to work towards what we always have: a country where all LGBTQIA2S+ people are safe, seen, and accepted for who we truly are, without exception. We are here together, and we will move forward. We’ve got this. We’ve got us." Read our full sign-on letter: https://lnkd.in/g38A6ASG

A post-election message from our Interim President & CEO, alexis kantor "Though the results of this election are disappointing to many, Family Equality stands stronger than ever in our commitment to securing a safe and supportive world for all LGBTQ+ families. Our community has overcome countless barriers, and while today’s setbacks are a heavy weight, they are far from the end of our journey. "We know many of our families woke up this morning uncertain and afraid. Many of us had to face impossible conversations with our children, our partners, and our friends about what’s ahead. To every LGBTQ+ family feeling the weight of today — especially those who are transgender, BIPOC, immigrant, low-income, or occupying any identity that has been targeted for harm by our nation’s policies and practices — you are not moving through this moment alone. “As we continue to get a clearer picture of the road ahead, we will work hard to provide you with the resources you need to make informed decisions about yourself and your family. We will create the spaces our families need to feel safe and feel loved. We will share the stories of our families so the truth of who we are cannot be twisted. We will strategize alongside fellow equality champions to push back against whatever is levied against us from schools to statehouses, and we will continue on the path towards progress. “We’ve been doing this work for 45 years and we’re not stopping now. Along with our movement partners, we’ve got this. We’ve got us. The fight continues.”

With less than a week until election day, the Trump-Vance campaign has heightened attacks on the LGBTQ+ community with narratives about “traditional families.” Our Vice President of Public Policy, Luce Remy states, “Regardless of this election cycle, who wins at the top of the ticket, the middle of the ticket and the bottom of the ticket, what has been sparked, is a really fundamental conversation within the LGBTQ+ community, within transgender communities, within the Black community, within the Hispanic [community] about what and how we want to be seen in American society.” Our Interim CEO & President, alexis kantor further believes all American families deserve safety and protection under the law. In recognition of LGBTQ+ History Month and our 10-year partnership with CARE WITH PRIDE®, we’re sharing stories from families who are growing alongside us! And to close out October, we’re celebrating a family who’s just beginning their history with Family Equality. Meet Sarita & Elizabeth — two moms from Santa Barbara who attended Family Week for the very first time this year! Growing up in an Indian immigrant community in New England, Sarita didn’t feel there were many opportunities for her to live openly and express herself authentically. That’s why this year, she immediately knew Family Week would become a yearly tradition for her and her family. “It’s something I’ve never experienced before: an entire week to be unapologetically me with my family and chosen family.” All week, Sarita & Elizabeth explored Provincetown while reflecting on their family’s journey — from starting as a couple to becoming the proud moms of two children — and celebrated how far they’ve come. Today, they can walk down Commercial Street hand in hand, joke in their “mother tongue” (Gujarati), dance with childhood friends at Family Night, and fully embrace the magic of parenthood. “The sense of safety — and simply the joy — Family Equality and CARE WITH PRIDE have produced with programs like Family Week make all the difference in the world.” Creating a sense of safety, joy, and community for families like Sarita & Elizabeth’s is what Family Equality is all about — and we wouldn’t be able to achieve this without the support of our brilliant sponsor, CARE WITH PRIDE. From providing entertainment at Family Week (including this year’s performance by Ms. Kasha Davis) to donating 1,700 care packages to folks facing adversity due to anti-LGBTQIA+ laws, #CAREWITHPRIDE has helped make Family Equality’s mission possible for the past +10 years. Thank you for exemplifying authentic allyship and for your continued support!🌈💖

Wow. What a night! Thank you to those who were able to join us at Clockwork for an evening of stories and connection — and raising much-needed funds for Family Equality. Last night we heard inspiring and personal stories from alexis kantor , Family Equality Interim CEO, and Nancy Lyons, a long-time Family Equality Board Member. They talked about Family Equality’s work and how it’s impacted their families’ lives and the lives of countless others across the country. We heard from national treasure, civil rights icon, and Family Equality board member, Jim Obergefell, about how family and love were at the core of his historic Supreme Court case, Obergefell v. Hodges, and why he’s determined to ensure everyone can create and protect their family. And we got to hear from Al Gerhardstein, Jim’s attorney in the historic case! Thanks to the Clockwork team who helped with the event!
