ESCA is so grateful to those who spoke to our employee-owners this year. From the House Ways and Means Committee, both Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO) and Ranking Member Richard Neal (D-MA) helped us look ahead at our annual Leadership Summit in Florida. So did Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA), and New York Times journalist Frank Bruni. Later, we heard from leading national political economist Alex Brill at our Southwestern Regional Policy Seminar in Dallas. At our annual D.C. Federal Policy Conference and Lobby Day, ESCA member companies heard from Congressman Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), Former Congressman Ron Kind (D-WI), Senator Mike Crapo (R-ID), Senator John Thune (R-SD), House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), and former four-star United States Naval Officer Admiral James Stavridis. In September, former Chief Strategist and Senior Advisor to President Barack Obama David Axelrod delivered remarks at our Midwestern Regional Policy Seminar in Chicago. Congresswoman Linda Sanchez (D-CA) spoke at our Pacific Regional Policy Seminar in October, helping us close out a successful year.

About us
ESCA, Employee-Owned S Corporations of America, is the voice in Washington, D.C. that speaks exclusively for employee-owned S corporations ("S ESOPs"). Since 1998, ESCA's membership has grown to represent more than 250,000 employee-owners in virtually every state in the nation. ESCA company members engage in a broad spectrum of business activities and are a variety of sizes—from 25-person businesses to companies with more than 25,000 employee-owners—but all have one thing in common: a commitment to protecting the S corporation ESOP structure and promoting it so that more working Americans can become employee-owners.

As we close out the year, we want to thank our member companies for advocating for the S ESOP structure. During ESCA’s annual Lobby Day, our member companies met with 48 Senate offices and 100 House offices – covering 43 states. With more than 140 meetings between employee-owners and lawmakers on Capitol Hill, ESCA member companies worked hard this past year to make their voices heard. #employeeownership #advocacy #SESOP

With lots of changes in the upcoming year, one thing that shouldn’t change is support for employee ownership from both sides of the aisle. ESCA has made strides to build bipartisan consensus on the benefits of the S ESOP structure. ESCA is ready to educate new Members of Congress on the benefits of employee ownership and remain your eyes and ears in Washington D.C. #employeeownership #SESOP

The upcoming retirement wave of Baby Boomer small business owners, known as the Silver Tsunami, will impact almost 1/5 of the nation’s labor force. With the likelihood of 65-75% of small firms going up for sale in the next decade, having a succession plan in place is critical for these companies. Becoming employee-owned serves as a beneficial solution for small businesses lacking a succession plan. Employee-owned companies have better retention rates, fare better during financial instability, generate economic activity for the community, and provide employees with greater retirement security. #employeeownership #silvertsunami #SESOP https://lnkd.in/guHX8nQe

Did you know? S ESOPs are powering retirement security. A 2022 study by Ernst & Young demonstrates how S ESOPs have led the way over the past two decades. Between 2002 and 2019, the value of S ESOP assets increased by $82 billion, and the number of participants nearly quadrupled. #sSESOP #retirementsecurity #employeeownership https://bit.ly/EY22

Did you know that only half of American workers love their jobs? There’s a cost to the blues. ESCA Advisory Committee Member Mary Josephs shares how levels of employee engagement and productivity cost the American economy at least a half-trillion dollars each year. There’s a better way. Scores of studies show employee-owned companies boast better job stability, productivity, job satisfaction, and firm resilience. In fact, employee-owners are far less likely to seek new jobs and have more job satisfaction than their non-ESOP counterparts. #SESOP #employeeownership https://lnkd.in/ehAwSWcT
