About us
Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team compete in the global sports championship, SailGP. The most exciting racing on water, with national teams battling it out in identical high-tech, high-speed 50-foot foiling catamarans at iconic venues around the world. Racing faster than the wind at speeds approaching 100 km/h (60 mph), the Rolex SailGP Championship is driven by the sport’s top athletes, with national pride, personal glory, and a top prize of USD$12.8 million all at stake. Led by the most successful Olympic sailor of all-time, Sir Ben Ainslie, as CEO. Emirates GBR’s F50 is driven by Olympic gold medallist, Moth World Champion and America's Cup Helm, Dylan Fletcher. The crew alongside him features sailing’s top talent, including Olympic gold medallists Hannah Mills and Iain Jensen and three-time America's Cup athletes Neil Hunter, Nick Hutton and Luke Parkinson. Kai Hockley, an 18-year-old from Tottenham, London, completes the squad as a development sailor who is on the team's Athena Pathway programme. Emirates GBR is a formidable force on and off the water, winning three events and the Impact League last season for its dedication to climate education, sustainability and inclusivity with its partners the 1851 Trust, Low Carbon and Athena Pathway. Working with 1851 Trust’s ‘Protect Our Future’, a new climate education platform, the team aim to help over 1 million young people take action to protect nature, people and the planet.
