Over the past year at Embrace, we've been working on a solution to send mobile metrics directly to third-party platforms such as Grafana Cloud. We’ve overcome challenges like managing authentication, ensuring time series accuracy, and handling delayed data. The result is a seamless integration of mobile and backend data, making monitoring and troubleshooting simpler than ever. #OpenTelemetry is about an open data ecosystem by which telemetry is sent all over the place for use, AI, and analyses. Its not just about collecting metrics, logs, traces. Almost every vendor is "closed" - you send the data in and you never get access to it unless its via a dash or aggregated. Think Datadog or New Relic. Embrace is "open" - we want people using their telemetry along with enriched data that is not filtered for cardinality - anywhere - Snowflake, Grafana Labs, Databricks, Chronosphere and more. Do your workloads, SLOs, product analyses, and use Embrace to discover user impact, retrace steps, and really understand performance. If you want mobile metrics for example, here is how we do it! Nice shoutout from Dotan Horovits 🇮🇱🎗and Charity Majors for #OpenTelemetry and the evolution of client-side telemetry (particularly the open source of Embrace) in 2024. Time for data to be portable, available, and not locked in. "F that sh$t. The only thing that deserves swearing is vendor lock in," screamed Charity Majors. Data should be available to anyone who can build on it, run analysis, do AI, etc. Stabilize, adopt, and run!
