So proud of this collaborative effort between RISE St. James, a project of Earth Island, and the Georgetown University Law Center Environmental Law & Justice Clinic.
Extremely proud of our Environmental Law & Justice Clinic students for their work supporting RISE St. James in advocating at the U.N. for reparations for intersecting climate and environmental harms. They participated in sessions on reimagining reparatory justice at the Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent. It was an honor to support environmental justice leader Ms. Sharon Lavigne and Ms. Shamyra Lavigne-Davey -- they tirelessly share their experience and expertise to illuminate the struggles of residents in Cancer Alley and to protect the health and dignity of their communities, the generations who came before them and those that will follow. Enormous thanks to our students Alyssa-Dean Huie and Philip Vachon (pictured here behind Ms. Lavigne), Teaching Fellow/Supervisory Attorney Sarah Dorman for her exceptional supervision, and the wonderful staff of Earth Island Institute for their invaluable institutional support. https://lnkd.in/ew8U4r72 Georgetown Law Clinical Programs Georgetown University Law Center
