About us
We are thrilled to announce a new chapter in our journey of empowering leaders in children's services. The upon Programme has officially rebranded as The DCS Leadership Programme. This change marks the beginning of our fifth year in partnership with the Department for Education. Over the past five years, the upon Programme has significantly impacted the landscape of children's services. Our mission to foster strong, capable leadership in the sector is reflected in the numerous alumni who have ascended to the role of Directors of Children's Services (DCS). These leaders are driving much-needed stability and excellence in local authority children's services. What Stays the Same? The DCS Leadership Programme will continue to offer the same high-quality content, expert facilitation, and sector-leading insights that you have come to expect. The renaming better reflects our programme's purpose and achievements, bringing clarity to each pathway and enabling future expansion and development, continuing to be delivered by The Staff College and a consortium comprising IPC, Skills for Care and GatenbySanderson. Specialised Pathways: The DCS Leadership Programme for Aspirant Directors: Tailored for future leaders preparing to take on the responsibilities of a DCS. The DCS Leadership Programme for New Directors: Focused on equipping newly appointed DCSs with the tools and knowledge to excel in their roles.
