About us
We are a children’s charity currently looking for new carers to join our expanding foster care family. Manchester is a place well known for its community spirit and where people help each other when it matters. We now want people to offer this help to vulnerable young people needing a loving family or carer. Maybe you have a spare room, are looking for a change of career, or simply have love to give, if so we want to hear from you. Over 80% of our carers tell us that they prefer fostering to their previous job, and that “it’s like a big family so it doesn't feel like a job at all.” The things you will need to become a carer with us are: - • A spare room • A commitment to supporting young people • To be calm, patient and have a good sense of humour The things you can expect from us are: - • 24 hours advice line • High levels of personalised professional support from friendly staff • Access to a range of training courses to help give you the skills • Weekly payments of up to £620 • Great cups of tea!!! If you want to know more about fostering with us then you can get in touch in a few different ways, either send us a message, visit our website, send an email, or give us a ring. Most of our foster carers didn’t think they had the necessary skills and experience to become a foster carer previously, but if you’re calm, patient, and have a good sense of humour then we can help you to build up the necessary skills and knowledge to help you make a positive difference to a young person’s life. As a charity we are often asked about what’s different about fostering with Action for Children and we always refer to our core values which focus on relationships and providing positive support. Our carers tell us that they chose to foster for Action for Children due the high level of support we provide before during and after they became approved. This is how Action for Children Works.
