We are privileged to be included in the investor group led by Madrona supporting the launch of Archon Biosciences, a platform for accelerating the delivery of antibody-based therapeutics. Led by co-founders James Lazarovits and George Ueda, two world class researchers from Nobel prize winning David Baker’s Lab at the Institute for Protein Design, University of Washington (IPD), Archon is developing an entirely new class of biologics by creating Antibody Cages (AbCs), AI-generated protein structures that can improve the delivery of antibody therapies targeting specific areas of the body. Our venture partners, Matt Dittrich and Robby Divine (a brilliant early scientist in the field of AbCs who’s PhD served as foundational research for Archon), and Advisors Justin Siegel, Erich Veitenheimer, and Ingrid Pultz all made this investment possible. We look forward to a long-term relationship with Jamie, George, and the entire Archon family!

Understanding how our body’s clock regulates key physiological processes can unlock more precise and personalized approaches to improving our healthspan. This IIFH event was an amazing opportunity to learn more about the emerging technologies and science focused on Circadian Health! Here are some of our key takeaways: · Daylight exposure is a strong predictor of sleep onset, with natural light during the day potentially more effective than limiting evening light for improving sleep. Thank you, Horacio Hacho De La Iglesia, for sharing your research and discussing new lighting technologies designed to improve circadian health. · Around 40% of adolescents struggle with irregular sleep patterns, which are linked to poorer academic performance, attention deficits, and mental health challenges. Thank you, Michael Grandner, for highlighting the potential of sleep telehealth platforms in improving circadian health, with promising implications for implementation in other at-risk populations, including children. · Over 80% of FDA-approved drug targets follow circadian patterns in gene expression, presenting opportunities to optimize treatment timing for better efficacy. Thank you, John Hogenesch and @Ron Anafi, for sharing your work on developing new technologies to accurately measure and identify new circadian biomarkers, offering exciting potential for clinical applications. · Strong biological rhythms are a marker of health and longevity and can be strengthened by maintaining healthy sleeping and eating patterns. Thank you, Satchin Panda, Emily Manoogian, Marie-Pierre St-Onge, Joe Bass, and Joanna Chiu, for sharing insights on the importance of meal tim
🌟 What an inspiring day at the Chronobiology Discovery Forum! 🌟 We were thrilled to work with our partner Cornucopian Capital, Aryeh Ganz, and Dr. Joanna Chiu to gather some of the top experts in chronobiology at the University of California, Davis for a day of insightful discussions on how to nourish our internal clocks for a healthier future. A huge thank you to Cornucopian Capital for making the event possible, our brilliant speakers for their contributions, and our wonderful attendees for making this an incredibly engaging conversation! 🧠 Highlights from the day: - Keynote by Dr. Satchin Panda (The Circadian Code) on how our internal clocks influence metabolic health and disease prevention. - Talks by Dr. Emily Manoogian (Panda Lab, Salk Institute), Dr. Marie-Pierre St-Onge (Columbia University), Dr. Joe Bass (Northwestern), and Dr. Guodong Zhang (UC Davis) on nutrition, circadian disruption, and metabolic health. - Dr. Horacio Hacho De La Iglesia (University of Washington), Dr. John Hogenesch (Cincinnati Children’s Hospital), Dr. Ron Anafi (University of Pennsylvania), and Dr. Michael Grandner (University of Arizona) shared tools for measuring circadian biomarkers and insights on sleep medicine. - Dr. Andrew Chuanyin Liu (University of Florida), Dr. Selma Masri (UC Irvine), and Dr. Kin Yuen, MD (UCSF) discussed the latest in circadian-based treatments to improve health outcomes. The conversations and collaborations were inspiring! Big thanks to our moderators and panelists, including Dr. Joanna Chiu and Antoine Abrieux, for bringing everyone together and guiding these impactful sessions. We closed the day with a guided honey tasting, courtesy of UC Davis Honey and Pollination Center! 🍯 Thank you to everyone who joined us, and we look forward to continuing the conversation on the future of circadian science! #Chronobiology #CircadianRhythms #FoodInnovation #HealthInnovation #MetabolicHealth #UCDavis #FoodandHealth

Another fascinating Medicine 3.0 Symposium yesterday, when scientists, innovators, entrepreneurs, and investors came together to discuss GLP-1 agonists and their impact on metabolic health and muscle performance. Here are some key takeaways: • Next gen therapeutics combining peptides with greater efficacy look promising for those that need them. Thank you, Shirly Pinto PhD for sharing your insights on the pharma pipeline, including challenges and opportunities ahead. • Too many people are struggling to maintain weight loss if/when they go off Ozempic et al. Given that rapid weight loss is often accompanied by 40% muscle mass loss, regaining the weight – mostly body fat – results in losing functionality. Thank you, Keith Baar, for sharing your research on skeletal muscle health and the risks associated with rapid weight loss. • Ultimately, with 30M people projected to be on GLP-1 drugs by 2030, consumer behaviors will change and drive new product solutions. Thank you, Joshua C Anthony, PhD, MBA, for describing some of the innovation opportunities that food and nutrition companies should consider to meet new consumer demands. • Finally, thank you Richard Johnson, for a fascinating presentation on the biology of obesity, GLP-1 pathways and mechanisms of action, and alternative solutions for activating GLP-1 receptors (e.g. Allulose), that should be explored in the future. • Understanding the complexities of GLP-1 agonists from different perspectives – from pharma, academia, and food system stakeholders – is essential for appreciating the significance of the ‘Ozempic frenzy’ we’re witnessing today. Jessica Muse, you did a remarkable job moderating this discussion on short notice!

Is your VO2max in a healthy range? VO2max has been a popular metric among endurance athletes trying to improve their performance, but growing research shows that everyone should monitor their VO2max for longevity. Higher levels of VO2max are associated with improved heart health, better glucose control, lower inflammation levels, stronger athletic performance, and increased healthspan. Although VO2max naturally declines with age, it's highly modifiable through lifestyle changes. Knowing your levels means you can take action towards a longer healthier life. Check out our new article to learn what a "good" VO2max level is for you, how to improve it, and why it's critical for healthspan: https://hubs.li/Q02hj0XB0
