This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to intern with the City of Noblesville at the Noblesville City Court. While interning under Judge Cook and Court Administrator Amie Gibson, I gained first-hand knowledge of working in a courtroom.
My primary job was to prepare the Judge for the court hearings each week. I gathered tickets from an online database, pulled driving records, notified the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles of any necessary changes, checked payments, and filed tickets. I, alongside the rest of the court staff, worked in advance to ensure the hearings ran smoothly.
Additionally, I completed a large data organization project. I went through all of the cases in the court and organized them to be filed digitally. This was a lengthy, yet interesting, project where I got to study cases dating back to the 1950’s alongside present court cases.
I’m extremely grateful I had the opportunity to intern with the Noblesville City Court. I learned how the law works behind the scenes and became confident in a courtroom setting. As a pre-law student, the knowledge I gained this summer will greatly benefit my future career in law.
Thank you to the Noblesville City Court for being extremely welcoming and an amazing place to work!
