🚨 Managing clients with too much wealth in one or two stocks? 🚨 Equity compensation has helped many build substantial wealth but often leaves them concentrated in their company stock. The result? A reluctance to sell and incur a hefty tax bill. 💡 Exchange funds can be a strategy for tax-deferred diversification, allowing investors to maintain upside growth without the immediate tax cost of selling. In this video, Aaron White, CFP®, Wealth Manager at Adero Partners, breaks down how exchange funds can: ✅ Reduce concentrated stock risk ✅ Enable pre-tax compounding over time ✅ Help plan for future liquidity needs Watch it to understand if you’re advising clients with concentrated positions, or hold one yourself. Our final close for the year is on Dec 31st. Get started on our website if you'd like to join!

An exchange fund diversifies a concentrated stock. A 351 conversion moves a diversified portfolio into the ETF wrapper. Both defer tax. But they are very different. Since this will naturally come up at Thanksgiving 🦃 🥧 here's my latest blog comparing them: https://lnkd.in/g7KeqkGK Full-length explainer co-authored with Srikanth Narayan at Cache: https://lnkd.in/gDVD_pFz My lengthy write-up on 351 conversions regarding Meb Faber's new ETF: https://lnkd.in/gPaNnGiM p.s. 🤔 "Sell RSUs immediately!" vs. "HODL forever!" Which is the right answer? Internet wisdom suggests selling RSUs immediately. Yet we've seen thousands of tech employees who've built massive wealth by holding their vested stocks. Two extremes: → We've met an Nvidia employee who sold RSUs immediately on vest and seemed to regret doing so. → Lehman employees held 30% of company stock worth $60B in 2007 - before losing it all in the collapse. This polarized advice has always puzzled me. Skip the Blind / Reddit extremes. Your strategy should match your unique situation. 👉🏽 Evaluate your concentration risk (over 20% in one stock might be too much). 👉🏽 Consider your liquidity needs (what if the stock collapses suddenly?) 👉🏽 Plan your tax implications carefully (a default tax lot relief method might increase your taxes). Learn how you can tax-loss harvest among lots close to their basis and use advanced strategies like exchange funds for highly appreciated lots. Here's an article I wrote: https://lnkd.in/gaUeJNYj What's your RSU strategy? Share below 👇

📊 How much of one stock is too much for your portfolio? Here's a reality check for those of us with concentrated positions: While individual stocks have seen incredible gains (some up 15-35X in the last decade), our research shows a sobering truth: only 27% of individual stocks outperform the market long-term. Here's a framework we came up with at Cache: 🟡 10-25%: Pushing your luck 🟠 25-50%: Tempting fate 🔴 50-75%: Playing with fire 🥵 75-100%: Going #YOLO Before holding onto that concentrated position, ask yourself: 👉🏽 Could you stomach a 30-60% drop? 👉🏽 Do you want to minimize regrets and heartburn? 👉🏽 Would you run into financial trouble if a black swan event were to occur? 👉🏽 Is this also your employer's stock? Read the full article to learn more about various tax-efficient diversification strategies: https://lnkd.in/g_iNViRx What's your take on portfolio concentration? #Investing #WealthManagement #StockMarket #PortfolioStrategy #FinancialPlanning

We're proud to announce that the Cache Exchange Fund has surpassed $250M in assets just 8 months after launch! Our rapid growth reflects an important market need: helping professionals like you manage your concentrated stock positions. Over the last two decades, stock compensation has accelerated in corporate America. And the stock market has been on a 15-year bull run. This has created a situation where many of us have a majority of our wealth tied up in one or two stocks. Concentration can build wealth (look at Nvidia’s 370x return in 10 years). But concentration can also destroy wealth (consider the huge drawdowns that Snowflake and Crowdstrike had to endure this year). Become too concentrated, and you put your financial future in jeopardy. Diversification is the only answer, but selling to diversify could incur a huge tax bill. Enter Cache: We help you diversify your portfolio while deferring taxes. It’s called an Exchange Fund, and we are making it broadly accessible. We’re pleased that leading tech and finance executives have adopted the Cache Exchange Fund into their financial plans. If you hold 1-2 stocks that make up most of your portfolio, now's the time to finish your 2024 financial planning. Our next close is on Nov 15th. Get started on our website if you’d like to participate. https://lnkd.in/g9m5pemU — Assets refer to gross AUM as of November 6th, 2024. References to large upfront tax bills are intended to illustrate clients with long-term investments in highly appreciated stocks, such as some of the components of the NASDAQ-100 Index. Each investor's tax situation will be unique, so please consult your tax advisor about your situation. Cache Exchange Fund now onboards every two weeks! Traditional exchange funds typically allow investors to onboard quarterly or semi-annually. Moreover, the capacity for any stock is uncertain, and one could end up waiting a year or two before receiving an allocation. With the speed at which markets move, this can seem like an eternity. Starting today, the Cache Exchange Fund offers bi-weekly onboarding. Our real-time capacity checks ensure you have a reserved allocation. Our next closing is planned for Nov 15th — get started today. Our “Select” exchange funds for Qualified Purchasers continue to drive record demand. In fact, reservations for the Cache Exchange Fund have seen a huge uptick in the last few weeks. — Securities are distributed by Cache Securities LLC, Member FINRA/SIPC. Cache Advisors LLC is the advisor to the Cache Exchange Fund and is an Investment Advisor registered with the SEC.
