About us
The Broward Center for the Performing Arts overlooks the New River in downtown Fort Lauderdale, The Center brings Broadway musicals, operas, ballets, concerts, plays, multi-cultural performances, films, lectures and numerous community workshops and educational events to South Florida while also creating unique and successful collaborations with partners in the arts, community, government and business. The vision to create a cultural centerpiece came to life at the Broward Center in the form of a grand, multi-venue arts and entertainment complex. The complex opened in 1991 and soon became the anchor of the downtown arts district. The Center's mission includes a strong focus on integrating the arts into education. A long-standing partnership with the School Board of Broward County has created an award-winning model for other communities through the Student Enrichment in the Arts (SEAS) program.SEAS activities are designed to advance specific educational goals tied into state standards, helping to develop our future workforce.

The community gathered to celebrate the impact of the arts when Broward Cultural Division hosted the second annual State of the Arts address in the Mary N. Porter Riverview Ballroom. The energy was high as Fushu Daiko opened the program with Taiko drumming, and it was great to see so much excitement and so many new programs. To quote Broward Cultural Division Director Phillip Dunlap: “The state of our arts is strong …and getting stronger!” We’re excited for all that’s to come as Broward County continues to increase investment in the arts and culture sector.

A Spot of Tea with Our Stars 🌟 Last week, we welcomed our volunteer alumni for a tea party-themed luncheon at The Parker. We sipped tea, enjoyed a captivating lecture on America’s First Ladies by Dr. Robert Watson, Distinguished Professor of American History at Lynn University, and heard inspiring words from Broward Center President and CEO Ty Sutton and VP of External Affairs Jan Goodheart. Cheers to the wonderful volunteers who keep our legacy thriving! Photos by David Muir
