Last week we hosted our first ever Creativity + Tech Summit, a gathering of artists, technologists, thought-leaders, and creators with the shared goal of exploring the opportunities that can be found when creativity and technology walk hand-in-hand. One of the highlights of the day was the ability to learn from one another. Our presenting sponsor, YouTube, used the summit to launch its largest survey to-date to gain a deeper understanding of how the global creator economy is using generative A.I. today, and how it will impact creator businesses in the years to come. The findings provide a helpful lens to understand the practical benefits of generative A.I. across creative industries, while ensuring this technology is built in service of the creative sector, not as a replacement for human creativity. You can learn more about their findings at yt.be/AIandCreators. As the report shows, generative A.I. is quickly becoming an important component of our creative world. The Kennedy Center is committed to using technology in responsible, innovative ways to support artists of all kinds and continue to uplift the human spirit.

Congratulations to the Kennedy Center’s Hip Hop Culture program, led by Simone Eccleston, for receiving two awards at the 39th Annual Mayor’s Arts Awards! 🎉 The Hip Hop Culture program was recognized with the award for Excellence in the Performing Arts, and Simone received an award for her Visionary Leadership. Thank you to everyone who voted, and to Mayor Bowser for uplifting the art and creativity found across DC. One of the earliest hip hop performances on record at the Center was the 1983 Kennedy Center Honors when the New York City Breakers performed honoring dance legend Katherine Dunham. From that first performance… to Kendrick Lamar performing with the NSO… to the formation of the Hip Hop Council… to icons LL Cool J and Queen Latifah receiving Honors… to D-Nice headlining the Opera House with Club Quarantine Live… the uniquely American artform of Hip Hop thrives across our campus! Check out what’s coming up soon on our website ➡ https://lnkd.in/eX3frUJy
