About us
Brooke Glen Behavioral Hospital is located on 11 acres in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, a small suburban town outside of Philadelphia. Our mental health facility provides a richly therapeutic and comfortable environment for children, teens and adults seeking treatment for mental illness and behavioral disorders. We provide around the clock psychiatric need assessments and inpatient acute hospitalization or referral to alternate level of care, when indicated. Brooke Glen provides outreach services to families and members of the community by facilitating education and awareness about psychological issues and challenges faced by those suffering with mental illness. Since 1966, Brooke Glen has proudly offered unique and individualized programming that sets us apart from many other behavioral hospitals. We strive to treat the “whole person.” We assist patients in acknowledging their past, confronting their present, and planning for their future. Our focus on Trauma-Informed Care is a clinically sound therapeutic process which takes into consideration each individual’s life experiences and future needs to be successful. Brooke Glen is here to listen.

During National Suicide Prevention Week, Brooke Glen Behavioral Hospital partnered with Brittany Knight, founder of Step by Step, to provide a bit of dignity to patients during a hospitalization. Each patient was given a pair of socks with the message, “You Matter” on them to be a reminder that they are worthwhile and important. Brittany shared her journey into therapy which ignited in middle school when she was inspired to pursue a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from East Stroudsburg University and a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Holy Family University. During her studies, she gained essential experience at Brooke Glen Behavioral Hospital, enhancing her understanding of mental health, empathy, and the need to combat stigma as a mental health technician. Despite the countless positive aspects of mental health and substance-use facilities, she noticed that socks provided were often ill fitting, insufficient, and quantity, uncomfortable, and unattractive. Driven by passion for helping others, particularly in mental health and addiction, Brittany established Step by Step to bridge the gaps she noticed and conventional treatment environments. Step by Step Socks are not just about providing warm and comfortable socks to those in need, it is also about spreading awareness and sparking conversations about mental health and recovery. By addressing the specific needs of patience and mental health and substance abuse facilities, we are working towards creating a more supportive and compassionate environment for everyone involved. It is through this partnership that we can make a difference one step at a time. Moving forward, every admission will receive a pair of socks to continue the message. Additionally, with every regular sock purchased, these will be donated to individuals who benefit having one. #youmatter #988Lifeline www.stepbystepsocks.org
