But here we are in 2024, and this humble nutrient is having yet another turn in the CPG spotlight. The timing couldn't be better. As conversations around GLP-1s dominate wellness circles, consumers are rediscovering fiber's natural role in appetite regulation. Data shows searches for fiber-rich foods are up 29% this year – and smart brands are taking notice. Remember the protein-and-fiber boom of the early 2000s? This time feels different. We're seeing fiber show up in unexpected places: sparkling waters, smoothie boosters, and even sodas. Even though brands like poppi and Jones Soda Co. already contain fiber, there's a fascinating consumer psychology at play. While terms like "prebiotics" and "probiotics" can feel scientific and distant, everyone understands fiber. It's familiar. It's trusted. And yes, we all know exactly what it does for our digestion 😉 Leading the charge in the beverage space, pioneers like Bruno Gorgulho Rodrigues at vibi+ and Tom Bushkie at hellowater are revolutionizing how we think about functional hydration.     The real test of strength isn't found in perfect conditions – it's revealed in those dreary moments when your alarm goes off at dawn and every fiber of your being wants to stay in bed. This hit home during my Thanksgiving turkey trot. Rain was falling, skies were gray, and my warm bed was calling. But as two fellow runners at the starting line remarked, "What else were we going to do, stay in bed?" Sometimes being a leader is simply about showing up when others don't. The race taught me another crucial lesson. Despite pushing harder than ever – improving my pace by 1:11 over last year – I still finished third in my age group, just like last year. A competitor surged past me in the final stretch (you can see me behind her in this picture from the last .2 mile), and though I had given it my all, I couldn't match her finish. So what did I learn? First, progress isn't always visible in the standings. While I finished in the same position, I had outperformed my former, slightly younger self. As leaders, we sometimes measure ourselves against others when we should be tracking our own growth trajectory. Second, disappointment is often the price of ambition. If you're never disappointed, you're probably not pushing hard enough. The most meaningful goals – the ones worth pursuing – come with the risk of falling short. Finally, success is about managing the gap between expectations and reality. It's about finding motivation in the rain, pushing through when you're running alone, and maintaining perspective when outcomes don't match efforts. The true measure of leadership isn't in avoiding misery or disappointment – it's in how we respond to them. Sometimes that means getting out of bed when others won't. Sometimes it means celebrating personal bests even when they don't come with medals. Although it is really nice when they do. 🏆 #Leadership #PersonalGrowth #Resilience #ProfessionalDevelopment
