Thanks to the Beard Distressed Investing conference for hosting a series of engaging conversations on the state of special sits investing. I also appreciated the opportunity to join @Negisa Balluku and the @Bloomberg team to offer a behind the scenes view on our Special Sits platform and ability to structure transactions to deliver a win-win for our companies and investors.

  • In a discussion with the Asian Venture Capital Journal (AVCJ), Barnaby Lyons shared how we combine bespoke capital, operational expertise, and a global perspective to drive growth across asset classes, industries, and regions. Following our most recent Special Situations fund close, our team is well-positioned to address evolving needs, from founder-led businesses seeking non-dilutive partnership to corporates pursuing strategic restructuring. We are also investing against a range of real asset sectors where we see strong underlying tailwinds driving sustained capital gaps. The article also highlighted our ability to bring global capabilities to the local context in Asia. Whether supporting media and entertainment content in India or facilitating cross-border growth for technology companies, we seek to deliver innovative, flexible capital tailored to each opportunity with deep local teams. https://lnkd.in/ej7YYmMj

We are delighted to announce the successful final close of our Education Fund at $52 million. This marks an important milestone for us – as the first fund since Greater Share’s launch in 2022 – and we are proud to have raised capital from more than fifty individual investors and organisations across the world. Our innovative philanthropic investment model supports high-impact NGOs with additional long-term funding through investments in best-in-class private equity funds and donations from our private equity partners. A huge thank-you to our partners Bain Capital, Cinven, Hg, Lexington Partners, Nautic Partners LLC and Permira for their continued support. The Education Fund will provide sustainable funding over the next decade to eight NGOs focused on achieving greater education equity in underserved communities across the world. We are proud to support exceptional organisations such as aeioTU, AllChild, CAMFED - Campaign for Female Education, Kaivalya Education Foundation, KIPP Foundation, London Early Years Foundation (LEYF), National Institute for Student Success and Teach For All with their critical work. This journey would not have been possible without the extraordinary support of Bain & Company, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, and Apex Group Ltd and our wider group of pro bono partners. • It was a privilege to partner with Out Leadership to host their first Boston-based event, The Future of Work for LGBTQ+ Talent, in our Boston office.   The event included a panel moderated by Out Leadership CEO Todd Sears, featuring our colleagues Dave Hamilton and Kevin Lin. Topics included mentorship programs, inclusive leadership development, recruitment, and workplace policies.   We were deeply inspired by personal stories that underscored the importance of fostering a workplace where everyone can be authentic at work.

I recently had the privilege of joining my friend Stephen Zubiago for an insightful discussion hosted by Nixon Peabody LLP and Reuters, where we explored the geopolitical landscape post-election and its implications for the economy. Our conversation touched on cornerstone issues such as the housing market and the outlook for M&A and credit investing in 2025 and beyond. We also reflected on Bain Capital’s deliberate growth over the past 40 years and our commitment to fostering a strong apprenticeship culture and sense of community.   During the discussion, I had the chance to reflect on our approach to analyzing and managing risk. A long-term perspective and frameworks like the OODA loop enable us to stay grounded and focus on fundamentals while leaving the guesswork to others. https://lnkd.in/gSRN6twJ
