  • A lovely moment to reminisce ✨ Last month, Backstory Consulting hosted its first event—An Evening of Discovery—at the wonderful Sweet Fire Café & Studio in Brooklyn. What began as a celebration of a new chapter for Backstory, became something much bigger. In partnership with Neverstill Wines and the incredible Sweet Fire team, we curated a warm and intimate evening for womxn to gather, connect, and share their unique Backstories. 🍂✨ In a week that carried a lot of charged energy, this gathering served as a much-needed intervention in the present—one rooted in discovery, joy, and intentional care. As our founder Callia so beautifully reflected, “Gathering with intention is an act of resistance and care.” This event is just the start of creating spaces where meaningful connection and community come first. Thank you to our partners and every individual who joined us in making this night truly unforgettable. 📸 Photos and moments on Instagram: https://lnkd.in/enVwmw-4 Stay tuned—this is just the beginning! #BackstoryConsulting #EveningOfDiscovery #IntentionalGathering

Empowering fashion, consumer goods, and media leaders to forge authentic connections with diverse audiences through impactful, inclusive marketing via my consultancy, Backstory ✨ 🤝 ✨

Last Thursday, Backstory Consulting held its first-ever event—an autumnal evening of discovery and connection at Sweet Fire Café & Studio in Brooklyn. What began as a celebration of a new chapter for Backstory became, in the wake of a charged week, a powerful gathering of womxn that shifted the room’s energy toward discovery and joy. 🍂✨ As I stepped into the venue, with the support of our client and wine partner for the evening, Neverstill Wines, and the incredible Sweet Fire team, I knew we were creating something special and much needed. The ambiance—a cozy mix of warmth and intimacy—was more than a backdrop; it was the atmosphere for conversations, sharing backstories, and true connection. Gathering with intention is an act of resistance and care. As Adrienne Maree Brown wisely said in her latest book, Loving Corrections, “We don’t just want to be on the right side of history. We want to be an intervention in the present that changes history.” Thank you to our sponsors who made this night possible and to everyone who joined us in the community. This is just the beginning. Our next event will be here soon, and we hope you’ll be there with us. In the meantime, for a taste of the evening—listen to our curated event playlist: https://lnkd.in/e539U95J And visit our Instagram for a closer look inside the event: https://lnkd.in/enVwmw-4 #BackstoryConsulting #GatheringWithPurpose #CommunityBuilding

  • We believe marketing is most effective when it connects with real people, reflects real lives, and brings about real change. ✨ To us, marketing involves positioning brands with vision and purpose, resonating with diverse audiences, and, most importantly, centering around their voices, stories, and experiences. We’ve updated our services to reflect this renewed approach. Here’s our new lineup: 🌟 Brand Marketing We empower brands to build unique identities that foster community. 🌟 Campaign & Content Development Our campaigns are rooted in inclusivity. • For brands with physical locations, acknowledging and honoring the land and the people that originally stood on it is essential to having a responsible brand strategy, In collaboration with our friends at BEST Creative Studio we partnered with Neverstill Wines to bring their rich brand backstory to life, tasked to weave together a narrative that celebrates the land it was founded on and its Indigenous heritage in the form of a land acknowledgment statement. New York State's history of land stewardship spans over 10,000 years, with the Mohican people — aptly named the People of the Waters That Are Never Still — playing an important role throughout history. Neverstill Wines plans to continue to honor this heritage as it grows and evolves, much like the wine it crafts. To ensure we crafted an authentic and thoughtful tribute, we collaborated with the amazing Emma C Banks, a New York-based copywriter who brings equal measures of style & substance to every Backstory project she contributes to. Shoutout to Emma for her incredible work! Creating meaningful statements like this that reflect the history of communities that stand on Indigenous land allows for a deeper sense of connection in that community. To know where you’re going, you must know where you’ve been. The values-based strategy work that Neverstill completed with us exemplifies this approach. We hope that it inspires other New York-based brands to honor the ancestral homeland they stand upon. Curious to know more about how your brand can craft and implement a similar land acknowledgment strategy? Book an intro call here: https://lnkd.in/egKPDVYr

  • When it comes to DEIB workshops, cookie-cutter methods just don't cut it. No one wants to feel they’re in the middle of The Office’s Diversity Day. 😉 Our workshops are interactive, enjoyable, and tailored to meet your team where they are, helping them grow and thrive. What Sets Them Apart: Come As You Are: Our Workshops are welcoming spaces for personal growth. The Me Informs the We: Valuing your team's backstory as individuals and as a whole. Consider the Bigger Picture: We help you integrate DEIB principles into every aspect of your business. Ask Us Anything: We bring an interactive and designed space to deepen your understanding from where you are. • June marks a significant milestone for us. This month marks our anniversary and we’re celebrating four years of partnering with business leaders, entrepreneurs, and creatives to develop and evolve their storytelling and marketing strategies through the lens of impact and inclusion. Their challenges have been our lessons and their successes, our victories. Together, we've created work that goes beyond the surface, and plants the seeds for much-needed change. 🌟 4 key insights we’ve gathered along the way to celebrate four years of learning and growing: 1️⃣Get to truly, really know yourself, your brand, and your audience. It’s imperative to create impact. 2️⃣Never Stop Learning. We refer to impact work as a journey for a reason. 3️⃣Sustainable Is Best - Dream big but be realistic. Impact strategies should be integrated into your brand’s long-term vision. 4️⃣Work Proactively. Impact work is best done proactively, not reactively. 💬And as we look to our fifth year: Impact Work is Worth the Investment: In 2024, we've observed that many brands are trying to quantify the value of impact work through sales and numerical results. We’ll save them and you some time with a fact we’ve always known: diversity drives revenue. Cheers to another year of impactful work!
