Aspen Policy Academy reposted this
Using the skills that I learned at the Aspen Policy Academy I want to invite Chicagoans, and in particular Black Chicagoans, to comment on this 2025 Strategic Plan. Public comments are considered and at times cited in updated versions or other outputs related to the document. Anyone can make a public comment and make their voice heard. I've been waiting over a year for this update and I am particularly curious about this 'other' category. In order to address the life expectancy gap, we need to know all the reasons why Black Chicagoans are dying over a decade earlier than the rest of us. Public comment period: December 16, 2024 - Jan 6, 2025 Please email all questions and comments to [email protected] Spanish version coming soon
This week, Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) released the Healthy Chicago 2025 Strategic Plan – including a progress report on the previous 2025 Healthy Chicago report launched in 2020, and a revised plan to tackle the drivers of the widening life expectancy gap between Black and non-Black Chicagoans. Commissioner Olusimbo Ige and McKenna McMaster (Project Manager for the Commissioner) discuss the progress report, next steps for 2025, and opportunities for collaboration with CDPH to improve the health of the people of Chicago. 👂 Spotify: https://spoti.fi/401Te29 👂 Apple: https://apple.co/4gldxNJ 👀 Youtube: https://lnkd.in/g6T9iGdW Read the Healthy Chicago 2025 Strategic Plan: https://bit.ly/4iJoaeU City of Chicago #Podcast #Chicago #PublicHealth #Community #HealthyChicago

🙌 So excited to share that our 2023 Nonprofit and Public Interest Fellowship alum, Lana R., is creating a National Resource Center for Cybercrimes with AEquitas!
Friends, I’m delighted to announce that I’ve officially accepted a role with AEquitas to create a National Resource Center for Cybercrimes (NRCC) against individuals! Having spent years working directly with survivors facing issues like cyberstalking and image-based sexual abuse, I’m keenly aware that, in many cases, survivors’ best option for ending the incessant nightmare of digital abuse is within our legal system—which, in turn, is in dire need of comprehensive training and up-to-date, survivor-centered resources to stay on top of these rapidly evolving problems. That’s why I’m excited to help build an urgently needed centralized repository for advocates, law enforcement, and prosecutors and to continue leading training on digital violence to those best positioned to make a difference —and I couldn’t be happier or more confident in doing that than with the absolutely stacked roster of powerhouses (and friends) that is SPARC, The National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV), and CYBER CIVIL RIGHTS INITIATIVE combined. Finally, transitions are always difficult, and I want to thank everyone who supported me through this one: there are far too many list, but so many of you have shared job listings, offered your networks, your recommendations, your advice, lent an ear, a shoulder, a place to stay, a proverbial port in a storm. I can’t thank all of you enough for your support. ❤️ 💜
