Last week, the ASPCA Humane Law Enforcement department hosted a ‘Paws and Police’ vaccine event in Lower Manhattan providing free vaccinations and nail trimmings. We saw an incredible turnout with our veterinarians vaccinating over 170 animals! 54 dogs received nail trims from our grooming specialist as well. This was the seventh 'Paws & Police' event the Humane Law Enforcement team has hosted this year with a total of 1,182 pets vaccinated across the events! About us
The ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is the first animal welfare organization established in North America and serves as the nation’s leading voice for animals. The organization’s mission is to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States. The ASPCA provides local and national leadership in three key areas: protecting and rescuing animals from crisis, assisting animals in communities and advancing legal protection for animals. The ASPCA was founded by Henry Bergh in 1866 on the belief that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of humans, and must be protected under the law. Headquartered in New York City, the ASPCA maintains a full-service animal hospital, spay/neuter clinic, rehabilitation center for canine victims of cruelty, kitten nursery and adoption facility. In addition, the ASPCA announced a groundbreaking anti-cruelty partnership with the New York Police Department in 2013, which has resulted in a record-breaking number of arrests and animals’ lives saved. The ASPCA also operates programs and services that extend nationwide, including a Field Investigation and Response team that rescues animal victims of natural and man-made disasters, a fully-subsidized spay/neuter clinic in Los Angeles, a Behavioral Rehabilitation Center for fearful, under-socialized dogs, and a 24-hour, 365-day Animal Poison Control Center that provides pet owners and veterinarians with live, on-call assistance related to toxic products and substances. In 2015, the ASPCA acquired Humane Alliance, the nation’s leading training and education organization focusing on high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter. The ASPCA is a privately funded 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization supported by more than 2 million animal advocates across the country.

Housing instability is one of the main reasons that pet owners are forced to make the difficult decision to surrender their pets, but it doesn’t have to be. In a new article for the National Apartment Association, the ASPCA and Michelson Found Animals Foundation debunk some common misconceptions related to pet-inclusive housing and highlight the benefits for rental housing providers to show how we can help keep people and pets together in loving homes! We were featured in @RadioCafe's Down To Earth podcast where we talk about our multi-pronged approach to getting animals out of factory farms and into cruelty-free lives! Animals should be able to express their instincts and behaviors - that’s why we’re partnering with Farmers to bring about the intersectional benefits of a more humane food and farm system. Check it out here:
On the latest episode of Down to Earth, senior manager of Farm Animal Welfare and Environmental Policy at the ASPCA Adam Mason joins us to discuss their multi-pronged approach to getting animals out of buildings and into cruelty-free lives in which they can express their natural instincts and behaviors. Farmers who make the transition from conventional livestock practices to animal-friendly practices report better lives for the animals and the farmers themselves, with benefits for land and water health, and often more autonomy and greater profitability. On this #NationalDayoftheHorse, we want to highlight a landmark collaboration that will benefit equines across Oklahoma! This past month, the ASPCA welcomed 31 Oklahoma law enforcement personnel from 14 different agencies for a full day of equine training! The eight-hour course included learning horse handling and behavior, equine medical evaluation and triage, cruelty laws and more. This successful session increased educational opportunities for law enforcement officials, aligning with the ASPCA's holistic approach to improve equine welfare in Oklahoma. Additionally, the training created a ripple effect as attendees will bring their learnings back and implement them in counties across the state. Click the link below to read more about the course and how the ASPCA's Equine Transition and Adoption Center (ETAC) is continuing to improve equine welfare in Oklahoma. https://bit.ly/41ycbKN
