The U.S. Green Building Council has officially recognized REI's newest distribution center in Lebanon, TN with the LEED v4 Platinum Certification. This achievement marks the first certified facility of its kind in Tennessee and the largest LEED Platinum industrial building in the Southeast. REI Distribution Center 4 joins an elite group of only 10 warehouse facilities in the country to achieve this rating. This is very cool. We're so proud to have helped REI achieve this goal! Old to New In 2015, our team sold 8650 Governors Hill, located in Mason, Ohio to an office investor. This 200,000 SF building was a classic example of a large floor plate office asset. A “people packer” designed to accommodate as many people as possible in one space, a trend that was particularly popular in the 1980s. Back in October, 9 years later, I had the opportunity to tour this office building turned apartment asset with Dobbs Ackermann of Ackermann Group who has redeveloped this project with Al. Neyer, into one of Greater Cincinnati’s first suburban office adaptive reuse projects, the Altura Apartments. www.livingaltura.com The debate over remote work versus return to office (RTO) continues, but few would, or should argue that a hybrid workforce is here to stay in some form. While major companies like Starbucks, Amazon, Goldman Sachs and 3M press forward on defined RTO strategies, many office buildings will need to be repurposed for new use that will release the potential of an asset that no longer competes as it was designed. Projects like Ackermann’s Altura are great examples of transforming old to new and meeting an unfulfilled market demand for housing alternatives. The ultimate recycling project. Yesterday, we had the privilege of hosting an appreciation lunch on the job site at Rock Nashville, serving over 200 hardworking subcontractors who are helping bring this incredible project to life. The event, organized by the Al. Neyer design-build team, was a true team effort, and I’d like to extend a special thank you to Jesse Ross, Justin Rich, and Cole Rhea for their leadership in making it happen. We served lunch in Studio 1—an impressive 80’ clear (95’ total height) space that will soon become a rehearsal home for future live shows. This event was made possible through the generosity of our sponsors, including American Contractor Supply (ASC), who provided most of the food alongside Al. Neyer. Additional support came from Savage Brothers, Care Supply, DeGraauw, Ivey Mechanical, Hayden Supplies, and HireQuest, who contributed tools, coolers, gift cards, and more. DeGraauw also sponsored the light towers to keep everything running smoothly. Great to see the Rock Nashville ownership group too, including Kindel Jumper from Soundcheck and Andrea Shirk from Rock Lititz, and our development team. Grateful for the dedication and partnership of everyone involved in this project—it’s inspiring to see the commitment to excellence on full display. 💪🎶
