Happy Veterans Day! ❤️🤍💙 In honor of today we are featuring World War II veteran and AccentCare patient Norton Pallot (drafted in 1942), who also celebrates his 100th birthday this month! Norton was surrounded by family and friends in his local Coral Gables, FL community, and his AccentCare team. With the help of The Last Patrol, a nonprofit dedicated to honoring veterans, we were able to create a heartfelt gathering to pay tribute to Norton and the countless sacrifices he made as a veteran. During the tribute he reflected on his military service, which included freeing prisoners of war. His advice to us all? “Keep moving!” Let’s set aside time today to honor those who’ve served, sacrificed, and paid the ultimate price to protect our freedoms. At AccentCare, we are honored to hold Nightingale Ceremonies for our patients that recognize the commitment and dedication they made to the practice of nursing. These coinciding with National Home Care Month makes them even more special.🩺 Recently, our team in Minnesota, led by Registered Nurse Case Manager Delores Kaiserlik, held ceremonies for two patients who were also former nurses, Kay Keimig and Brenda Lundblad.💙 These moving ceremonies honor nurses’ careers and the profound impact they’ve had on patients’ lives, just like Florence Nightingale did. When asked about what the Nightingale ceremony meant to her, Delores said: “Being able to witness such dedicated nurses receive their Nightingale pins was both humbling and moving. I truly fought back tears. So grateful for the opportunity to know these beautiful persons!” With each pin placed and candle lit, we express our deepest gratitude for their dedication and compassion. It was a fall fair type of day! On this brisk, beautiful day, we held a fair for our community! Shopping and health information for our residents, their families, and our Southbury community. We also raised money with our resident craft table and raffles! Our causes for the kids is on going this season and will benefit inner city youth. Happy Days at Monarch! Thanks to our health and home care partners for the baskets to Raffle off! On the Mend raffled off a rollator walker to our community!
