Communication is the Key to Handling the Conflicts. Conflicts grows without openly talking about it. Key is to bring the issues in open and create an conducive environment for constructive dialogue with an extended viewpoint. To restore motivation, important is to reiterate the bigger objective and how working together leads to bigger results.

A big mistake leaders make is ignoring the conflict. Try to get a sense of the conflict and gather the team impacted. Hold space for each person to share their perspective of the conflict without interruption. During conflict most people want their experience to be heard and acknowledged. As the leader, it's important that you're able to determine the root of the conflict and not focus on the symptoms of the conflict. Solve for the root of the conflict with process or policy change to improve the chances that it won't happen again. ‼️ Important note, if it does occur again, now you and your team have a process to address it.

In my earlier role as COO, I had 2/3 team members who had to be mentored because of their conflicting priorities - 1. I had an open discussion with them to understand the issue. All of them tabled their views during these meetings 2. Then I worked with them to figure out solutions. I ensured that solutions came from the team members so they owned the suggestions/solutions. I played the role of a facilitator 3. Periodic sync-ups helped understand the progress and course correction needed 4. We had fun Fridays to build trust and bonding within the team 5. If needed, I used to have a one-on-one with some members to ensure tighter alignment 6. Finally OKRs that tie different teams together worked wonders from a collaboration standpoint
