What are the most effective ways to conduct pre- and post-workshop surveys?

Keep pre-workshop surveys concise, focusing on essential information. Inquire about participants' expectations, goals, and what they hope to gain from the workshop. Step 1 : Focus on the pain point because of which the intervention was envisaged. Step 2 : This pain point needs to be converted into behavioral or functional or technical clusters (e.g. Ability to negotiate/Problem solving ability/Decision Making etc.) Step 3 : Design the diagnostic study (survey) around these clusters.This will help you define the starting point of the Delta. Step 4 : Post intervention study :- administer the same tool again to see the real delta. If the study/survey allows you figure out participant's ability to move "X to Y in Z time frame",you have done your job.

It’s absolutely worth it to find out and manage people’s expectations BEFORE the program starts, so you’re already guiding them in the direction of transfer success. One example is a pre-self-assessment! Simply add the transfer goals (=critical behavior) the training will aim to instill as the self-assessment items. For instance, in a sales training, one of the transfer goals was “speak less than my customer in my sales pitches”. Participants have not had the opportunity to apply the knowledge and, therefore, may not be able to fully judge its appropriateness or relevance to their work. 3. I think that any survey has sense in a workshop if you explain first the intention of It, then give enough time to the public to make It and finally better if they are done to. One at the beginning asking questions about the topic and what do the people expect from that course or workshop and one at the end, to ask if the goals have been achieved, about the teacher or instructor so there IS always improvement , if the topic was practical, interesting and finally some questions... like a test
