I've worked with a number of remote teams over my 20 years, and factors that will contribute is where everyone is located, I've worked with teams who were spread across 4 time zones this made life difficult, but by showing empathy and understanding and concentrating on the fact that the job of the team as a whole is to deliver you build trust subconsciously by trusting the team to deliver on time while making the concession to meet half way by don't making lots of team meeting at times that would not be convenient, understanding and empathy for the individual is as crucial as it is for the team as a whole, you build trust by giving it first and foremost
