One of the simplest and most effective post-interview actions is to send a thank-you note to the interviewer or the hiring manager. This shows your appreciation, interest, and professionalism. You can send an email within 24 hours of the interview, or a handwritten note within a week. Make sure to personalize your message, restate your value proposition, and mention any relevant details from the conversation.

If you were interviewed by a panel and particularly if people on the panel are people you would be working closely with, I would also recommend sending them thank you notes with a personalized message recalling something from the interview.

As a career transformation consultant, when I coach clients through interview coaching sessions, I stress that the actions they take after the interview are just as crucial as the interview itself.
These actions can significantly improve their chances of landing a job.
As well as sending a thank-you email within 24 hours of their interview, I advise my clients to reflect on the interview experience.
What worked well? What aspect can be improved? In this self-assessment, they gain self-awareness and personal growth.

As a career coach, I can not emphasize enough the importance of sending a thank you note in making a great impression on the interviewer and helping you stand out from the competition.
Here are my tips for writing a thank-you note:
- Be specific and personal. Don't just send a generic thank-you note.
- Take the time to mention something specific from the conversation that shows you were paying attention and that you are genuinely interested in the company.
For example, you could mention something that the interviewer said about the company's culture or values, or you could mention a specific project that the company is working on that you are excited about.
This small act and go a long way in increasing your chances i getting hired.

Send a thank-you note to the interviewing, showing your gratefulness. That surely helps you to stand out a bit from the crowd.
In case you don't get the offer, don't hold grudges. Just try to politely ask for their feedback on why you did not get the offer, to improve yourself for the future. They may or may not respond. It's totally okay. Life goes on.
I hope it's helpful. Happy reading and writing. Good luck with your job search, especially during this tough time. Good luck.

At my last interview I brought 3-4 pre-filled out thank you cards. During the interview, I noted the names of the panel. Following the interview, I filled out the thank you cards with everyones names and added one more detail from the interview. I asked the receptionist to hand the cards to the team. I got the job and the Assistant Superintendent still has my thank you card.

This is vital, always refer to something discussed in the interview that made you want the job even more. It could be a project they discussed with you, the culture you observed in the office or a reason you are so keen to work with the company or manager.
Another important post-interview action is to follow up with the employer after a reasonable period of time. This can help you demonstrate your enthusiasm, clarify any questions, and remind them of your qualifications. You can send a brief and polite email or call the employer, depending on their preferred communication method. However, don't be too pushy or impatient, as this can backfire and annoy the employer. A good rule of thumb is to follow up once a week until you get a response.

Following up with the employer is a crucial post-interview action that showcases your interest and professionalism.
It ideally begins with a thank you note sent within 24 hours of the interview, expressing gratitude for the opportunity and reiterating your interest in the position.
In the following week, a gentle follow-up email can be sent to check on the status of your application. This communication should be concise, respectful, and maintain a positive tone.
Remember, persistence is key, but it's essential to avoid being overly aggressive or impatient. This action not only keeps you on the employer's radar but also demonstrates your enthusiasm for the role.

If I'm really keen on a job or want to work with a client, my follow-up is always a value add.
Within 24 hours, I always send a short email with one actionable step that they could implement immediately to make their business more effective or improve their project.
It works both ways. If they respond to me and we end up working together, excellent, we're a good fit. If they don't reply, reply late, or think I'm a weirdo then that's important information. We're not on the same page and important to know before things go any further.

The thank you email will be straight after the interview but if you still haven't heard back you should follow up with the employer after the timeframe they advised they will get back to you and then weekly after that. If the company are tossing up between you and another candidate, this could be the deciding factor in their final decision.

If there are any additional documents or information that the employer requested during the interview (such as references, work samples, or certifications), make sure to send those promptly.
A third important post-interview action is to reflect on your performance and learn from the experience. You can review your strengths and weaknesses, identify areas for improvement, and plan for future interviews. You can also ask for feedback from the interviewer, if possible, or from a trusted friend or mentor. This can help you gain valuable insights, boost your confidence, and prepare for the next opportunity.

As a career coach and someone who has been interviewed many times myself, I can confidently say that the stage of reflecting on your performance is incredibly valuable.
To reflect on your performance, write down your thoughts and feelings immediately after the interview, or you can take a few days to process your experience before reflecting.
Here are some questions you can reflect on:
- Which questions were a challenge for you?
- Which questions did you answer with ease?
- Were you stressed out or at ease?
Answering these questions will help you assess whether you were well-prepared and will help you as well identify areas for improvement so that you overcome any challenges and master your next interview.

Reflecting on how the conversation flowed is critical. If the interviewer asked questions that you could not answer with ease, then you need additional preparation. I recommend my clients create a story vault.
I have my clients answer 20 to 30 behavioral interview questions that can be found online. Physically write or type the answers while at home and relaxed. Being relaxed allows my clients to think of work situations that they have forgotten about. The behavioral interview questions serve as prompts to remember past situations that showcase great accomplishments.
Once the questions are answered, select the top 10 accomplishments to share in story format.
Refer to your story vault before each interview. Preparation pays off!

3 questions that help in assessing any situation are:
1. What went well?
2. What can I improve?
3. How to make a small change that makes the presentation better?
If you follow this simple questions and keep improving for the next attempt you improve and can give a good shot.

I have helped many friends and clients prepare for interviews and would recommend the following.
Reflect on your recent interview, acknowledging your strong points in showcasing skills and experience and identifying areas for growth, like boosting answer confidence and providing specific examples.
Each interview is a chance to learn, understand employer expectations and prepare better for similar situations.
Reflect on the questions, feedback, and your responses. Develop a plan to enhance interview skills, such as practicing questions, refining responses, and improving presentation and communication.
With this groundwork, you'll be set to excel in future interviews and secure the job you want.
A fourth important post-interview action is to keep applying for other jobs and expanding your network. You don't want to put all your eggs in one basket, as there may be factors beyond your control that affect the hiring decision. You want to keep your options open and increase your chances of finding the right fit. You can also use your network to find referrals, recommendations, and leads for other positions.

Don't fall in love with a job opportunity! Seriously: a productive way to pass the time until you receive *that* answer you're waiting for, is to continue analyzing the market, opportunities and applying for other opportunities. You might even discover one that has a better fit (or salary) for you. 😉

Keep track of which jobs you are applying for. With “Easy Apply” options, it may be tempting to pray and spray.
Be mindful of which jobs you’ve applied for and how far in the interview process you are getting. This can help you refine your application process.
Not getting any responses? Maybe work on your resume, or reassess the roles you are applying for.
Not getting past first interviews? Focus on practicing and getting feedback on your interviews.
Tracking your interviews will help get perspective as well on how many jobs you are applying for that you actually want to land 😊

Don't put all your hopes on one interview. Continue your job search and apply for other positions. This helps you maintain momentum and reduces the stress of waiting for one particular outcome.
A fifth important post-interview action is to maintain a positive attitude and stay motivated. You may face rejection, frustration, or uncertainty during your job search, but you shouldn't let that discourage you or affect your self-esteem. You should focus on the positive aspects, celebrate your achievements, and practice gratitude. You should also take care of your physical and mental health, and engage in activities that make you happy and relaxed.

Maintaining a positive attitude is a game-changer throughout the job search process.
While job hunting can be challenging, having the right attitude and mindset can make all the difference.
Rejections and uncertainties are part of the process, but these do not define worth or abilities.
Embrace rejection as redirection and a chance for personal growth. I advise clients to learn from each experience and move forward with newfound strength.
Self-care matters equally as much. Physical and mental well-being are the greatest assets.
Getting enough rest, eating well, and exercising are essential for mental health and well-being.

For so many, our inner saboteur runs wild in a job search process. Critiquing, questioning, doubting our process. That critiquing impacts our ability to stay positive while searching for a job.
Instead, hold a vision in your mind of the job you desire and nurture the belief that the best possible outcome is coming for you.
How would that feel? What do you need to do to create that sensation in your life? Being in the vibe and the energy of it working out for you while you take the aligned steps you need to take puts the right energetics into your process.

You can also tailor your resume and portfolio to specific roles or industries, and use keywords and metrics to optimize them. This can help you stand out from the crowd and attract more attention.
