Teachers are struggling to keep up with new technology. What’s the best way to stay ahead of the curve?

My 2 cents: 1. To stay ahead of the curve one needs to be a Deep Worker and Deep Reader. Surround yourself with great minds. 2. Knowledge is doubling every 24 hours. One needs to know oneself fully - your strengths and limitations. Have a timeline to build on them and define your GOALS in life. Technology is here to stay and it'll only become BIGGER, and MIGHTIER. Embrace it ASAP and then Excel in it. Be a lifelong learner. 3. Develop, adopt and learn new skills. Academic degrees have a shelf life of only 2-3 years. 4. Become the CEO of your life and build your Brand because no one else will do it for you.

There has to be a dedicated tech team that teachers can access to ensure that they are up to speed with the new technology. The tech team should 1) Conduct thorough trainings (and have repeat sessions) as well as offer 1:1 sessions should teachers require it 2) Write thorough SOPs so teachers can follow this 3) Create short, easy to follow videos to help teachers understand the new technology 4) Be available during working hours to assist if anything goes wrong with the technology 5) Have a feedback form so the teachers can share what is working and what is not There is no escaping tech, but we need to support our teachers to make sure the experience for them and the students is seamless otherwise there will be pushback.

As educational leaders we need to shift our focus from what are the newest and most exciting tools, to what are the best tools for our needs. While it can be easy to fall down the rabbit hole, especially these days with the incredible coverage of tech improvements, the primary concern should be the unique environment in which we lead. Education can be prone to jumping in headfirst without consideration of patience around testing, professional development and structural resources. What your staff and students actually need should always trump the newest application or device.

One way is to ensure that you have a sustainable strategic vision and strategy for edtech that only adopts it when it is meaningful, impactful and valuable. Leaders must resist calls for change for its own sake. If teachers are struggling to 'keep up', it may be because they are saturated with it. Tech is a tool which should be leveraged to help teachers deliver great learning, not obstruct them. If tech is drowning educators, it needs to be expunged like any other barrier to exceptional learning and teaching!

I agree with you Namita and would like to add one more point that first teachers should be assessed according to their level of knowledge, subjects followed by formation of different groups and then tailor- made technology sessions could be implemented.

Peut être que si les profs avaient un peu d expérience industrielle ou entreprenariat ou simplement du salariat, ils auraient plus d exemple technologiques. I humbly suggest not panicking. Teaching is primarily about relationships. I’m focused on soft skills. How to create a socially and emotionally dynamic learning environment which enables learners to develop rigor and resilience. Technology has always been and will always be helpful in certain areas but I feel that education encompasses two primary areas. Teaching and Learning. Technocrats tend to focus on Teaching and become skillful and excited by the technology which automates and enables student centric delivery. While this is an important part of the mix, I feel that the Learning side is where my passion lies. What drives students to deeply pursue excellence? It comes from within the learner and is a pull and not necessarily electronic.

Find a flow and stick to it as you test and implement new technologies. Design thinking is perfect for these early stages as it scaffolds the journey from ideation, to research, to testing and finally evaluation. Start small, test the waters, reflect and expand the next round of tests. Patience and a process are key.

Be curious about the technology out there and don't be afraid to try them. Use a variety of options and consider how impactful it was to the lesson. Not all forms of technology may be suitable so it's a matter of trial and error. Ask if it enhances the learning experience of the students, was it simple for both teacher and student to use, did it assist in the teaching and did it make the lesson fun for the student.

When looking to integrate new technology stick to function and purpose over desire. Allow your community time to adapt and develop comfort with digital means before looking at the newest and emerging options. In education everything should always serve the purpose of the learning. If your community is lost in the noise whilst pursuing the latest and greatest, you may be working against a pressure of your own design. That being said, innovate in chunks and small batches. Create learning around discovery but not at a large scale initially.

Simple is always beautiful and beautiful is always simple. Technology feels to be complex as well as confusing as well as complex but it's not that way. A modern teacher is expected to understand the technology, adapt to it and present it in the best possible manner to his students. The 'online' era actually made it compulsory for the teachers to master the art of technology as well. While conducting an online lecture, the essence of physical contact is lost but the modern technology tools help the teacher to be connected. He needs to engage his students through small quizzes, keep interacting, ask yes-no questions and be connected throughout the session. Technology when adapted properly can act as a boon to the teaching world.

A question often encountered by me as an ICT expert in Education and the solutions are really simple - 1. In my experience I would say Continuous Professional Development is one of the primary keys. Engage in continuous professional development opportunities focused on technology integration in education. To be in sync with the times, you can follow learning advocates who discuss cutting-edge innovations in education and acquire new skills every quarter. It could be as simple as mastering a new method to collect assignments online or creating interactive presentations to enhance your sessions!

Part of this also comes with creating a school-wide culture that is open to/encouraging of adopting technology. Bringing in experts, hosting training sessions, creating usable resources.

There is no limit to the advancement of technology. Learning a new technology is not difficult, the thing that matters is to use the technology judiciously. Teachers don't need to learn every single tech that comes up. Use only those that can bring about a significant, positive and valuable change in your classroom and learning process. Sharing best practices might be helpful but not always applicable in your subject area. Learn about those apps, websites, that interest you so that you could make it more interesting for your students by your teaching skills.

Make it a priority during scheduled INSET sessions, to provide high quality staff training, with time to get to grips with it 1 on 1 and not just a 'lecture' style lesson. All too often, things like new technology training are an add-on, after teaching hours and if staff want to attend it is outside of paid hours or ' directed time' as it is known in the UK. In addition, school laptops need to be better maintained and updated so that this new technology can be reliably access. No point in installing fantastic software or student apps if 70% of the ipads or department laptops do not work. I agree with Firaz below about reducing workload, but that seems to be elusive (unless you follow me). I help teachers stop taking their work home.

Reduce teacher work load ( I talk about here in the UK) so they have time to try new things, t his reflects not only in teahcnologies but eperiementing with new teaching methods.

Na minha expertise eu aconselho que você não tenha medo de experimentar novas ferramentas e tecnologias em sala de aula. Comece com pequenas mudanças e vá incorporando gradualmente novas ferramentas à sua prática docente e sempre peça ajuda aos seus alunos, colegas e especialistas em tecnologia educacional. É importante também avaliar o impacto das novas ferramentas e tecnologias no aprendizado dos seus alunos.

Cut out unnecessary exams that most teachers could give results of anyway for successful transition. Just needs internal and external moderation for authenticity and recird evidence...

Maybe not introduce teachers to too many (less) tech tools? Like - get one right and well than 10 not so well. Give teachers something practical and work with them. I have experienced some 'coaches' especially in education, giving an introduction to heaps of tools, the 'pro and con list', then moving on to the next person/next tool. It's too transactional.

Do Experiment and Take Risks! Embrace a growth mindset and be willing to experiment with new technologies in your classroom. Don't be afraid to take risks and learn from both successes and failures. Trying out new tools and approaches will not only keep you ahead of the curve but also inspire your students.
