Years ago, debates were valued for their ability to Foster public speaking skills, confidence, research and persuasive skills, and this helped children to collaborate as a team, each bringing their critical thinking skills to play. There should be a Policy put in place that will encourage this once again. Intra and inter class debates; intra and inter school debates, state, regional and nationals should be considered.
