Chapter 1: The qualities of an Empath or Highly Sensitive Person
What does it mean to be an Empath?
An Empath (by some people also referred to as a Highly Sensitive Person or HSP) is someone who is in tune with the energy around them, specifically the energy of others. Their most well-known ability is being able to feel the emotions of the people around them. When they are consoling someone who is distraught, they seem to take the emotions of the person they’re with onto themselves. Likewise, when someone they are close to is overjoyed, that joy flows into the Empath as well, allowing them to share in the radiance of their companions.
However, Empaths are also capable of feeling other people physical and spiritual urges. If someone they are close to is feeling physically ill, the Empath will often pick up on the symptoms of that illness as well, even if they don’t pick up the actual illness. They can also pick up on the physical energy of a person. If someone they are with is excited and full of energy, the Empath will likely pick up on this and be rejuvenated as well.
Because Empaths feel everything so deeply, they often find fulfillment working with people, animals, and nature. This quality also makes them excellent storytellers, so
