The Brides Of Bathory - Lee Cushing

    The Abduction

Yeah, I’ll come round after dinner.  Rachel Collins watched her friend head in the opposite direction.

She turned and started walking along one side of the fence enclosing the netball court.  Continuing until she reached the first in the line of parked school buses, she stopped to let several of her classmates on first, her short brown hair blowing over the collar of her blue shirt.

Following them onto the bus, Rachel hurried up the curved steps to the upper deck.  Moving along the aisle, she sat on the seat in front of a blonde and a redhead, turning to face them.  I’m going round Becky’s later, any of you going to come?

Both the girls sitting behind her shook their heads as the bus started moving.

Rachel glanced out through the window as the bus left the school grounds, giving her friends her best pouting expression.  I don’t want to go alone.  Come on, it’ll be fun.

Shaking her head, the redhead leaned forward and rested her folded arms on the back of Rachel’s seat.  Mrs Higgins has given too much homework again, it’s going to take a couple of hours to finish all of it and it’s got to be in by morning.

The three girls continued talking for several minutes, each of them glancing out through the window every so often.

Watching the bus pass over a metal bridge, Rachel turned her head to watch one of the girls on a seat close to the steps get up and start down to the lower deck.

She began to turn her head back to face her friends.

The sound of raised forces and a scream coming from below made everyone on the top deck turn to look towards the front of the bus.

Rushing up the steps, a dark bearded man with a gun ushered the girls from the first couple of seats and pushed them along the aisle.  All of you, sit down and shut up.

Don’t do anything.  Rachel whispered to her friends sitting behind her.

The armed man approached her and grabbed her collar, threatening to smash the gun against the side of her head.  I said shut up.

She cowered on the seat, raising her hands to cover her face.  I’m sorry.

Do as you’re told and no one gets hurt.

Looking up a little, Rachel watched him return to the front of the bus.  She turned and glanced through the window as the bus began moving again.

There was complete silence on the upper deck until the bus began approaching a warehouse.

Taking the chance of looking up, Rachel saw the large doors being opened ahead as the bus was driven towards the warehouse.

She looked back through the rear window as the doors were pushed shut again once the bus was inside.

Hearing more voices from the lower deck, she peered out and watched all the boys being marched from the bus and towards one of several large wire metal cages.

Her attention distracted back to the front of the bus when an armed man with short ginger hair came up the steps.

The newcomer looked at the girls, You will call me Mr Tracy, I will not tolerate any attempt to escape.  One of you tries, five of you will be shot.  He glanced at the other man, Get them moving.

You heard Mr Tracy, get off the bus.

Descending and exiting the bus first, Gavin Tracy turned to look back as the girls took hesitant steps as they left the bus.

In the middle of the group being herded towards the second and still empty cage, Rachel felt a hand clamp around her arm and was pulled away from the others.

The man that had been holding them on the top deck looked towards Gavin, You said I could have some fun with one of them.

Rachel began to struggle when she saw Gavin give his approval, starting to scream as she was dragged towards a closed door.

Mickey, make it quick.  The Mistress doesn’t like being kept waiting.

Tears trickling down her eyes, she looked back at the faces of her friends as she was pushed through into an office.

She backed against the wall as the man facing her closed the door.

Moving towards her, Mickey started to unbuckle his belt.

He grabbed her shoulder and tore her shirt, exposing one side of her bra, a cruel smile forming on his face.

Rachel jumped when she heard the gunshot was outside, her eyes focusing on the door for a moment.

She redirected her gaze towards Mickey, screaming as he spun her round and slammed her against the wall.

Her tear soaked eyes closing, she felt his hand moving up beneath her skirt and heard the unzipping of his trousers.

    ––––––––

Sitting opposite the dark skinned woman at the table in the spacious kitchen, Catherine Jordan leaned forward and snatched several chips from her girlfriend’s plate.

Cut it out.  An amused smile appeared on Daphne McBride’s face, I offered to make you some.

Her long red hair hanging over the table, Catherine savoured the way Daphne smiled, her American accent evident when she spoke.  Yeah, but the ones you have always seem to taste so much better.

She moved her hand to snatch another slice, her fingers coming to a stop when the door bell rang.

Catherine slipped off the stool, grinning.  I’ll be back for that slice in a minute.

Leaving the kitchen and approaching the front door to the apartment, she opened it.

The well dressed man with a dark brown goatee entered the lounge, Did you know there’s an helicopter parked your driveway?

Rushing to the lounge window, she looked down at the car park lit by several streetlamps.  I assume it’s for us.

Forrest King nodded, A bus full of school kids have gone missing in a town called Barkcroft, Vladek wants us to take a look.

Let me say goodbye to Daph.  Returning to the kitchen, she approached the table.  I’ve got to go, some kids are missing and Vladek wants it investigated.

Getting off her stool, Daphne placed her hands on Catherine’s waist.  Will you be gone long?

Not too long I hope, a day or so.  Catherine slipped her arms over Daphne’s shoulders and kissed her, letting their foreheads touch.  I’ll see you when I get back.  She lingered for a moment, staring into her lover’s eyes.  I love you.

It took a few moments for them to step apart.

I love you too.  Daphne remained standing in the kitchen as Catherine left the room.

    ––––––––

Watching the lorry being driven into the warehouse, Gavin stepped aside as two of his men opened the back.

I want all the girls fifteen or above loaded inside, you’ve got ten minutes.  Moving back to the cage where the girls were being held, he looked towards the corner where Rachel was crouched, showing no remorse at the sight of her torn shirt.

He remained silent as a dozen or so girls were forced out of the cage.

Entering through the cage door, Mickey made for Rachel who screamed as he grabbed her arm, pulling her to her feet and dragging her from the cage.

Waiting until Rachel and the other girls were in the back of the lorry, he nodded to his men who pushed the doors shut.

Gavin walked towards Mickey, I don’t want any witnesses or evidence left.  He glanced back at the two cages, Torch everything.

Approaching the front of the lorry, he climbed into the passenger side of the cab, glancing at the driver.  Get moving.

He looked in the side mirror, catching sight of Mickey splashing petrol all across the floor of the warehouse.

    ––––––––

Putting up the black umbrella as he stepped out of the Range Rover, Forrest let Catherine duck under it to get out of the downpour, taking a brief moment to look at the sun rising between a break in the dark clouds.

Starting towards the framework remains of the warehouse, Forrest watched one of the local constables move in their direction.

I’m sorry, sir, miss.  I’m going to have to ask you to step back.

Forrest flashed his identification, Criminal Investigations Department Six, my colleague is with American intelligence.  Now let us pass.

He smiled at the look that appeared on the constable’s face and continued towards the burnt building.

Peering inside, he saw the charred remains of the bus.  I was so hoping you were wrong, Cat.

Catherine entered through where a door used to be, her high heeled boots stepping amongst the debris scattered across the floor.

She covered her face with her hand, the familiar aroma sweeping towards her.

Oh God.  The smell drew her towards the twisted metal of the cages, focusing on all the burnt bodies.  We’re too late.  They’re all dead.  She turned towards Forrest, We are going to get these bastards, right?

Count on it, no way the ungodly responsible for this will be getting away with it.

Walking out into the fresh air, Forrest glanced at the mud and the still visible tyre tracks.  He knelt down and began stroking his beard.

    ––––––––

Gavin jumped down from the cab when the driver brought the lorry to a full stop in the castle courtyard.

Reaching the rear of the vehicle as two of his men pulled open the doors, he glanced at the girls shielding their eyes after the hours of being in complete blackness.  You know where to put them, I’ve got to tell Miss Yeong we’re back.

He walked away from the lorry and up a flight of stone steps.  Entering through a door at the top, he proceed along a passage and through another door into a furnished hall.

A dark haired Asian woman in a tight leather outfit rose from a chair at the far end of the room and began to approach him.  You have the brides for the Mistress?

Gavin watched her walk past him, The guys are putting the girls in the cells right now.

The Mistress will be pleased.  Jiao Yeong moved back into his line of sight, She may even reward you when she arrives, if she finds her new brides pleasing.

    ––––––––

I’m afraid the local police still don’t seem to have much of a clue, but they’re concluding that all the kids are dead.  Forrest looked at Catherine sitting inside the Range Rover, watching the expression that was forming on her face, Those tyre tracks I found, that suggests there could be hope for some of the kids.

She looked up at him, her voice remaining sombre.  You’re just trying to cheer me up, but this time.  She got up out of the seat, It’s definitely not working.

The next words Forrest was about to say were silenced when his phone began ringing.  Turning as he answered it, he began pacing up and down.  We got here too late.  He swung round and looked at Catherine, continuing to talk on the phone.  Roxmoor Castle you say and some of them are still alive.  Turning off the phone, he slipped it back into his jacket pocket.  Vladek seems to be one step ahead of us, he just happens to know exactly where the rest of these school kids are being held.

    You’re joking, he just knows?.

Forrest moved to the driver’s side of the Range Rover, One of these days we’re going to have to ask him how he manages to get all these anonymous tips just when they’re needed.

    ––––––––

The limousine stopping next to the lorry in the castle courtyard, the driver got out and opened the rear door.

Her expensive high heeled shoes making contact with the concrete, the woman with long red hair reaching down to her waist started towards the steps, the driver and another man remaining close behind her.

She reached the door at the top of the stairs and continued through, advancing towards the main hall.

Jiao bowed her head when the woman entered, giving Gavin a quick glance as he remained standing in the far corner.  Mistress Bathory.

Sinking into a chair facing the Asian woman, Erzsbet Bathory rested her elbows on the arms.  I want to see one of them.

Again, Jiao lowered her head.  Of course, my Mistress.  She gave Gavin a nod and watched him leave, turning back to face Erzsbet.  She’ll be here in a moment, my Mistress.

Erzsbet closed her eyes, waiting until she heard Gavin return.

Pushing Rachel down before Erzsbet, he stepped back.

Opening her eyes, Erzsbet stood up and approached the girl.  She knelt down in front of Rachel and brushed her finger over the tears on the girl’s cheek.

She is quite beautiful.  Erzsbet stood up, Get her ready, she will be leaving with me.  The others are of no interest to me.  She focused on Gavin, You may do with them as you wish.

The fear overwhelming her, Rachel looked at everyone else in the room, her voice trembling as she spoke.  What you going to do with me?

Erzsbet looked at her and started to smile.

    ––––––––

Forrest’s shoes squelched down into the mud as he knelt down, continuing to look through the night vision enhanced binoculars.

Doesn’t look like we’ve got too many bad guys down there to take care of.

Catherine ejected the clip from her Ruger and checked it was fully loaded, I don’t care how many of them there are.  She looked at Forrest, slamming the clip back into her gun.  After what they did to those kids, I’m certainly not going to leave any of them alive.

Well if you’re interested there’s only two of them at the entrance.  Forrest watched her attach the suppressor to her Ruger, Cat, promise you’ll always remind me to stay on your good side.

Staying silent as she walked down to the road, Catherine did not take her eyes off the two men standing by the entrance to the castle.

She waited until she was close enough to see them begin to react to her presence before raising her gun, firing two shots.

Hitting both of them in their heads, Catherine continued without giving their corpses a second glance.

Forrest followed her into the courtyard, watching her look back at him.  He pointed to the lorry, Cover me.

Approaching the back with Catherine standing behind him, he pulled open the doors and looked into the empty space.

I guess that would have been too much to hope for.  He pointed to the door at the top of the steps, You try up there, I’ll have a look round down here.

Moving in the opposite direction as Catherine headed to the stairs, Forrest approached a door on the far side of the courtyard.

He had almost reached it when Gavin stepped through it.

Gavin’s hand went straight for the Beretta in the holster on his belt.

Forrest grabbed his wrist as Gavin tried to raise the weapon.  Twisting the gun until it was pointed towards Gavin’s head, Forrest snaked his finger over the trigger and pressed down hard.

The bullet ripping through Gavin’s skull, it burst out through the other side of his head, scattering blood on the concrete.

Letting the body fall, Forrest opened the door and entered the short passage.

His gaze focused on the door ahead when he heard the screams coming from the other side.

Hurrying forward, he flung open the door and descended the steps into the basement.

Mickey kept his back turned towards Forrest, his interest fixated on the crying girl bent over a crate as he pressed a long knife against her cheek.

That’s no way to treat a young lady.

Spinning round, Mickey pointed the tip of the blade towards Forrest.  Who are you?

Forrest took a step forward, I’m the knight in shining armour, the one you certainly don’t want to get mad.  He moved a little closer, And seeing scum like you hurting innocent girls.  Well, that just brings out my homicidal tendencies.

Lunging at Forrest with the blade aimed at his chest, Mickey was smashed back against the wall.

Gripping Mickey’s hand, Forrest twisted the blade until the tip was pointed at Mickey’s throat.

Forrest thrust the knife forward, the metal entering Mickey’s skin and coming out through the back of his neck.

He pushed the corpse away and focused on the girl, a gentle smile appearing on his face as he looked at the others in the cage behind her.  You’re all safe now, no one here is going to hurt you.  I’ll kill them if they try.

    ––––––––

Catherine opened the door to the main hall, her Ruger aimed towards the occupants as she entered.

Jiao started to move towards her.

Stay where you are.  Catherine’s hand remained steady, Believe me, I have absolutely problem killing any of you after what you did to the kids.

Erzsbet moved forward, leaving the two men behind her to keep hold of Rachel.  Catherine Jordan.

The Ruger moved to cover Erzsbet, Do we know each other?

    I am Countess Erzsbet Bathory.

Catherine gave a brief smile, Forrest’s been dreaming of getting his hands on you, after what you did to Melissa.  He quite liked her you know.

I was fully aware of his feelings.  Erzsbet started to move to one side of the room, It was me that he was making love to.  She continued keeping Catherine focused on her, Go ahead, kill this body.  You know it won’t stop me, there’s an endless supply of bodies I can inhabit.  Maybe your precious Daphne.

Catherine’s finger began pressing down on the trigger, Shut up.

Striking from behind, Jiao grabbed the gun and raised it as it went off, the bullet impacting the ceiling.

A blow of Jiao’s heel hit Catherine behind her knee and she twisted to stop herself hitting the concrete floor, smashing the gun against Jiao’s face.

Falling against the table in the middle of the room, Jiao lifted her leg and slashed her heel against the side of Catherine’s cheek, drawing blood.

Catherine swung the Ruger towards Jiao.

Grabbing Catherine’s wrist, Jiao twisted and made her drop the weapon, following the move by kicking Catherine in the chest.

Falling back a little, Catherine clutched the side of her ribs for a moment.  Straightening up, she raised her arms and clenched her fists.

Jiao blocked the first blow and slammed her fist back against Catherine’s ribs.

Catching hold of Catherine’s right hand, Jiao smashed her clenched fist down on Catherine’s elbow.

Crying out when she heard the bone in her arm crack, Catherine felt Jiao’s foot smash for a third time against her ribs and another on her back.

Jiao grabbed Catherine by the hair and dragged her to the wall, propelling her head into the window.

Blood streaming from the cuts on her face, Catherine collapsed onto the floor.

Standing over her, Jiao delivered a blow to the back of Catherine’s neck and she fell forward.

Leave her.  Erzsbet’s voice made Jiao stop, her arm ready to strike Catherine again.  It amuses me to let her live, to know that she was defeated.

Yes, my Mistress.  Jiao started moving back towards Erzsbet.

Moving towards the door, Erzsbet glanced at the two men holding Rachel.  Take her to the car.

Catherine lifted her head, focusing on the Erzsbet walking towards the door.  She pulled herself across the concrete with her remaining good arm, grimacing with pain until she reached her Ruger.

Her finger wrapped around the trigger, she raised it, the barrel shaking in her grasp.

    She began firing.

All the bullets slammed into Erzsbet’s body.

Erzsbet stood motionless for a moment, blood pumping from the multiple wounds.  Falling to her knees, she collapsed face down on the concrete.

Get the girl out of here.  Jiao walked towards Catherine, Damn you.

Collapsing in front of Jiao, Catherine closed her eyes, expecting to feel a killing blow any moment.

Turning away, Jiao exited the main hall.

    ––––––––

Motioning the girls behind him to stop, Forrest peered through the open doorway to see Jiao getting into the back of the limousine.

Waiting until it began driving away, he emerged out into the courtyard.  He rushed towards the back of the lorry, opening the rear doors.

The girls ran out and began scrambling inside.

Forrest grabbed the door, looking at the girls inside.  I’m not going lock it, but you need to stay quiet.  I have to find my friend, then we can get you out of here and back to your families.

Pushing the lorry door shut, he started towards the steps and hurried to the door at the top.

Cat.  He began shouting as soon as he entered the passage.  The sound of her reply made him rush to the main hall, stopping when he looked inside.  You do not look good.

Leaning against the table, Catherine watched him approach.  I think I’m going to need help getting out of here and I think I really need to see...

Forrest caught her when she collapsed into his arms.

    ––––––––

Pulled out of the limousine and towards the door of a farmhouse, Rachel found it impossible to break free of the man who was holding her arm.

Jiao followed them inside, Put her in the chair and tie her hands down.  Watching the man obey her instructions, she turned as several others entered the room, one of them carrying a skull.

Waiting until one of the men had placed a table close to Rachel’s tied down wrist, Jiao took a step back as the skull was placed on the table and the girl’s palm was forced down against it.

    The men began to chant.

After a few minutes, Rachel’s body convulsed and she threw her head back as she screamed.  A moment later, she slumped forward.

She began to move, her eyes opening as she raised her head.  Release me.

Jiao watched the men untie the ropes restraining her.  Mistress?

Rising out of the chair, Erzsbet stretched out the arms and began to smile.
