About this audiobook

The #1 national bestseller about a woman who escapes an abusive marriage is “one of Stephen King’s most engrossing horror novels. Relentlessly paced and brilliantly orchestrated...fueled by an air of danger immediate and overwhelming” (Publishers Weekly).

"What woke her up was a single drop of blood, no larger than a dime."

After surviving fourteen years of hell in a violently abusive marriage, Rosie Daniels finally summons the courage to flee for her life. But leaving her husband, Norman, for a new city and a new start is a very daunting prospect. It's hard for Rosie not to keep looking over her shoulder, and with good reason—Norman's a police officer with the instincts of a predator, a force of relentless terror and savagery…a man almost mythic in his monstrosity. He's very good at finding people, even if he is losing his mind. Rosie’s only hope for salvation may lie in a far more dangerous place, where she must become her own myth and the woman she never knew she could be....

Loved both narrators! Always a treat to hear Mr. King. Fabulous story as always and loved the Greek imagery.

A little slow to start but definitely an amazing book and although different than typical Stephen King horror stories, nonetheless an incredible book.

Great story and would still have been if King left the supernatural aspect out. Great narration on the womans part and OK with King doing the Males voice.

One of my least favorite Stephen King books...but had to give it another try. It’s still bad.

The story was very interesting. It wasn't something I expected. Still a good read.

Eu não gostei muito do desenrolar da história a partir da metade para o final, no começo parece parece uma história tão real e logo depois entra uns elementos sobrenaturais que eu pessoalmente não gostei muito.

I felt as if this is one of Stephen kings more unnoticed stories.

An engaging and satisfying story, with a few token Dark Tower references, worth a read but not his best work. Wonderful narration by the female reader but, honestly, Mr. King should stick to writing.

Not my favorite of his nor did I like the narrators or the beard music they played at the beginning of each chapter.

I always enjoyed the descriptive writing, and stories of Stephen King. That part is without question worth the listen. However the unusually loud music at odd intervals throughout this book cheapens the entire experience. It says if an old time radio soap opera has played, and not played all that well. To me the background music and sound effects take away from the story

Beautifully narrated between Blair and king himself. Love the tiny references to the Dark tower, and Paul Sheldon.

Great story but didn't like the ending. It became supernatural seemingly randomly.

Took a strange but expected turn considering it is SK. I don’t get the weird and kind of cruddy/creepy music/voices that played throughout. I didn’t like it but it didn’t ruin the book. It was a good read for sure.

Book had really good parts, and really bizarre parts that didn’t fully fit into the narrative. I didn’t quite get the point of the book overall.

The book is great. The reading is fantastic. The music is weird and out of place and distracted from the reading.

Very good book. I just wish there wasn’t that terrible music as introductions to some of the chapters. Great book though.

Rose Madder is my absolute favorite book by Stephen King! The depth of the story and how much his writing allows your mind to get pulled into it is brilliant. I read this for the 1st time in 2001 and have reread it several times since. Definitely a book to keep in rotation every few yeara.

This is maybe my 3rd read /listen in the past 20 years and I always forget how slow the book starts out. However, Norman's descent into madness totally makes sticking with it worth it. One of my faves!

A page turner, Stephen King is super creative. Norman in this story is one sick fuck, I think he should have been arrested or dealt with differently to pay for all those ppl he murdered. I thought the paintings' role in the story was confusing and took away from the story

This is the first time I have been able to listen to this book though I have read it before. I connect with Rosie. This book taught me to feel all that happens within the mystery of things. It was inspiring to know that good things to happen in the end.

Should have stuck with the battered wife story and not the confusing falling into the picture story. Disappointed and I am a big King fan.
