Employers involved in trade or business must file Form W-2 for each employee who has received remuneration of $600 or more, including noncash payments, regardless of the employee's relationship to the employer. The form is required if income, Social Security, or Medicare tax was withheld or if income tax would have been withheld under certain circumstances.
