Thanks for joining us

A fantastic set of early kick-offs that provided so much entertainment and a major upset from Ipswich.

Goals from Sammie Szmodics and Liam Delap gave Ipswich a 2-0 lead before half-time lead. Rodrigo Bentancur halved the defecit for Tottenham but they were unable to haul themselves level.

Ruud van Nistelrooy was able to sign off in style as interim maanager thanks to their 3-0 win over Leicester via goals from Bruno Fernandes an own goal and Alejandro Garnacho.

Notttingham Forest surrendered their 1-0 lead as goals from Alexander Isak, Joelinton and Harvey Barnes gave Newcastle an impressive win at The City Ground.

Arsenal and Chelsea have got underway to a frantic start and you can follow all the action right here.

Thanks for joining us today and stay across the Daily Mail Sport website for more reaction.

16:30

Alejandro Garnacho felt he had 'lost faith' with the Manchester United fans

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes to BBC Sport: 'It was a good day at work, I have to say. We have a lot of players with big qualities, but people can get too excited after one game and too down after another.

'Garnacho scored a banger but didn't celebrate like he should because he thinks he has lost faith from some fans. I told him people will always moan but lots of people like you and enjoy what you do.

'I told him to celebrate, it was something special. He is a special player, we have difference makers. They are the ones who win us games. We want them to score every game but that isn't going to happen.

'The Fantasy managers won't be happy with you guys taking that goal off me.'

16:13

Time to celebrate

The Ipswich fans are having the time of their lives, they don't want to leave this stadium.

It is a victory they will remember for the rest of their lives, whatever happens this season.

Nobody saw this coming, I'm pretty sure of that...

As the full-time white went, the players celebrated in the corner for as long as they could - savouring the occasion.

I'm sure there will be some sore heads in the morning...

16:09

'Spurs booed off'

Liam Delap gave it the full Jurgen Klopp fistbumps. The entire Ipswich setup went over to celebrate with the fans apart from George Hirst, who required some treatment.
But eventually makes his way over to have his moment. Joyous scenes in north London but not for the home side, who were booed off.

16:06

Ruud signs off in style

Just like that, Ruud van Nistelorooy's short reign as interim boss is now over.

He finishes with three wins and a solitary draw against Chelsea to his name. Not bad, eh?

While he did not have time to make an impact on United's playing style, he certainly helped inject some passion.

It will be interesting to see if he stays at the cub when Ruben Amorim takes over tomorrow.

The United fans love him, and he loves the club.

16:01

FULL-TIME: Tottenham 1-2 Ipswich

Ipswich hold on!

The Tractor Boys secure their first win of the season and inflict more pain on Tottenham.

Rodrigo Bentancur pulled a goal back for the hosts but it was not enough in the end.

What a result.

15:59

'Hutchinson's a baller'

Omari Hutchinson is giving a lesson in how to close out a game here. Baller.
15:57

FULL-TIME: Nottingham Forest 1-3 Newcastle

The whistle has been blown at the City Ground.

Newcastle secure back-to-back wins after a brilliant second-half turnaround.

Goals from Alexander Isak, Joelinton, and Harvey Barnes get the job done and the Geordies look back to their best.

15:57

FULL-TIME: Man United 3-0 Leicester

Job done.

Ruud van Nistelrooy signs off in style with an authoritative win over Leicester at old Trafford.

It was capped off by a stunner form Alejandro Garnacho and United head into their new era in high spirits.

15:53, 92'

Man United 3-0 Leicester

Amad Diallo wants to follow in Alejandro Garnacho's footsteps with a screamer.

It's fair to say, he doesn't quite get the same result as he blasts the ball comfortably high and wide.

Not his best effort.

15:50

'Postecoglou frustrated'

Ipswich know exactly what they're doing here, taking time out of the game at any given opportunity. Ange Postecoglou is getting frustrated. That pocket of Ipswich fans in the corner know how close they are from a famous victory.
15:50

Tottenham 1-2 Ipswich

Ipswich aren't just hanging on here, they are taking the rare opportunity to attack when they can.

Jack Clarke decides to have a pop from distance, but Vicario deals with it easily.

Can they hold on?

15:47

'Excellent third goal'

Excellent third goal from United. It started with Eriksen's clever pass close to his own penalty box to set Fernandes away. He fed Garnacho who cut inside to score with a fantastic shot.
15:46

'Newcastle clinical'

It has been two teams who want to play on the break here, and Newcastle are going to win it because they've been far more clinical in the second half.
15:43, 82'

Goal:Man United 3-0 Leicester (Garnacho 82')

What finish that is from Alejandro Garnacho!

The Argentine missed a curler a couple minutes ago, but this time he plants the ball straight into the top corner.

It's a superb strike after counter-attack, and that is all three points wrapped up now.

What a way to do it, as well.

15:42

Goal:Nottingham Forest 1-3 Newcastle (Barnes 83')

Game. Set. Match.

Newcastle's brilliant second-half comeback is truly complete as Harvey Barnes puts this game to bed.

The Geordies break again and Harvey Barnes is away down the left. He then cuts inside and fires the ball in at the near post.

A superb breakaway goal.

15:41

'Three up front for Spurs'

Spurs are playing with the three up front, two number 10s (Son & Kulusevski) and the full backs pushed high. Defensively, they have the centre halves and Bentancur. This is the game. Spurs have momentum. Can Ipswich strike on the break to kill it?
15:40

SUBSTITUTION: Man United 2-0 Leicester

This doesn't look good...

Casemiro goes down and he has to be replaced going into the final 10 minutes.

Christian Eriksen gets ready very quickly and in a flash the Dane is on for his Brazilian team-mate.

Casemiro had a very good game today, it's a shame it has ended this way.

15:39, 78'

CLOSE! Man United 2-0 Leicester

Now that would have been the icing on the cake for Manchester United.

Manual Ugarte does brilliantly to win the ball back high up the pitch before feeding Alejandro Garnacho.

The Argentine is in space and tries to bend the ball into the far corner but it flies just wide.

It would have been some finish, in fairness.

15:37

'Ruud must be worth keeping'

United are still two goals ahead and if they can see this game out, Van Nistelrooy will technically have the highest win percentage of any Man United manager in history.
It’s hard to see where the Dutchman fits into the new set-up if Amorim does indeed bring five of his back-room staff from Sporting Lisbon, but it would be nice to think there is a place for him.
After all, United have hardly been spoilt for success over the last decade. A man who knows a thing or two about the club and put together this run of results must be worth keeping around.
15:36, 75'

SUBSTITUTION: Man United 2-0 Leicester

Another game without a goal for Rasmus Hojlund...

The striker has struggled again today and he is replaced by Joshua Zirkzee.

Manchester United have been rather lethargic up top this half, can the Dutchman change that?

15:35

'Fans behind Spurs'

Spurs crowd up and behind their team. they can sense a comeback. It’s on. Spurs are likely to score again. It’s a question of whether Ipswich can punish them on the break.
15:35

'Muric had no chance'

It's a wonderful header by Rodrigo Bentancur. Arijanet Muric had no chance and suddenly this ground is alive.
Kieran McKenna had his two substitutes ready before that goal and he's sticking with them as they go more defensive. You can expect barely any action in the Spurs half for the rest of this game.
15:32

Goal:Tottenham 1-2 Ipswich (Bentancur 69')

This one will count!

Tottenham are well and truly back in this now as Rodrigo Bentancur pulls one goal back.

The midfielder rises highest to meet a Pedro Porro corner and heads the ball in brilliantly.

Game on.

15:31

Goal:Nottingham Forest 1-2 Newcastle (Joelinton 73')

Newcastle complete the turnaround!

The visitors needed something special and my word has Joelinton delivered in that department.

He drives to the edge of the box, cuts inside, and then bends the ball into the far corner.

A superb finish.

15:31

CHANCE! Man United 2-0 Leicester

Leicester are really ramping up the pressure here, they are desperate for a goal back.

A chance falls to Jordan Ayew but he scuffs his effort and it goes wide of the post.

Manchester United are on the back foot.

15:29

'VAR action at Spurs'

Couple of VAR incidents for Darren England to deal with at Spurs, where he is in charge for the first time since his VAR blunder ruled out that Luis Diaz goal for Liverpool in October last year.
Pape Matar Sarr has been struggling with an injury since the first half and has finally succumbed… Werner on.
15:28

'Leicester have been bright'

The strange thing is that Leicester have actually been pretty bright today. A handful of their players have just been having an animated conversation with boss Steve Cooper as Lisandro Martinez received treatment and I can understand their frustration.
But when you’re near the bottom the ball rarely falls for you and it’s felt like that for the Foxes today. They’ll watch this back and know with the positions they got themselves in they really should have made United pay. Still time but it looks to be one of those days for them.
15:28

SO CLOSE! Nottingham Forest 1-1 Newcastle

Ohhhh, Alexander Isak should have his second.

Anthony Gordon drives a counter format Nottingham Forest and sends through Joe Willock on the right.

Willock hands the ball up to the back post where Isak has peeled to and finds him.

But the striker volleys the ball agonisingly wide.

15:24, 65'

Man United 2-0 Leicester

I'm sorry, but this half of football has been utterly pants.

Leicester are trying to get a foothold in this game but there isn't much happening in terms of chances.

It's not over yet, though. there are still 25 minutes to go.

15:22

CHANCE! Tottenham 0-2 Ipswich

Ohhhh, Ipswich should be home and hosed.

Liam Delap does brilliantly on the break and manages to find Omari Hutchinson of the edge of the box.

He just needs to pick out a corner but he blasts the ball miles over the bar.

He should do better there.

15:19, 58'

SUBSTITUTION: Man United 2-0 Leicester

Ruud van Nistelrooy has turned to the bench.

Jonny Evans is coming on to face his former side as he replaces Diogo Dalot. I guess that means Lisandro Martinez moves to left-back.

Marcus Rashford is also hauled off and replaced by Alejandro Garnacho on the left.

Meanwhile, there is a bit of a worry regarding Bruno Fernandes, he is struggling with a head injury...

15:16

'Strong Spurs start'

Spurs have made a very strong start to the second half and building a head of steam kicking towards the home end.
Solanke goal ruled out for offside by VAR, swept the ball in with his right foot onto his left hand and in.
Ipswich keeper Muric testing the patience of the home crowd with his timewasting.
15:16

Man United 2-0 Leicester

Sadly the excitement elsewhere in the country has not been spread to Manchester.

Not much is really happening but I am sure that United fans aren't too bothered about it.

Even the scene looks sad as the rain continues to hammer down.

15:13

Goal:Nottingham Forest 1-1 Newcastle (Isak 54')

It just had to be him!

Newcastle have been all over Nottingham Forest and they get their leveller through the ever-reliable Alexander Isak.

A cross is kept alive by Sean Longstaff and the ball drops for Isak to sweep home inside the area.

The away end goes mental.

15:12

VAR: NO GOAL! - Tottenham

Now that is just so unlucky.

Tottenham's celebrations are cut short as VAR quickly rules out the goal for handball.

Back to square one.

15:10

Goal:Tottenham 1-2 Ipswich (Solanke 49')

Here we go...

Tottenham love a comeback and it's taken just four minutes for them to start this one through Dominic Solanke.

Or has he?

VAR is going to check this, it looks like he may have handballed it before finishing.

15:10, 49'

Man United 2-0 Leicester

Leicester are the ones looking the more likely so far I the second half.

I mean, they don't really look threatening but Manchester United seem happy to let them have the ball.

It has a similar quiet vibe to the start of the first half.

15:09

CHANCE! Nottingham Forest 1-0 Newcastle

Newcastle have flown out the traps in this half with real intent.

Alexander Isak tries to find Sean Longstaff at the back post but the midfielder can't finish off a lovely cross.

Bruno Guimaraes then plays a lovely give-and-go before bending an effort just wide.

He calls for some noise from the away section.

15:07

SECOND HALF: Tottenham 0-2 Ipswich

Right then, we are back underway in north London.

Tottenham can't get much worse than they were before the break, so expect some sort of improvement.

I assume it will be a nervy 45 minutes for the Ipswich players out there.

15:06, 46'

SECOND HALF: Man United 2-0 Leicester

Old Trafford is ready to rumble again.

Manchester United come out early and Leicester really make them wait...

Maybe the visitors just got a real long telling off from their boss Steve Cooper.

Can United pick up where they left off?

15:04

SECOND HALF: Nottingham Forest 1-0 Newcastle

Phoar, that break went quickly.

The two teams are back out and there have been no changes from either side.

Can Nottingham Forest hold out, or will Newcastle come back?

15:01

'United can't be over-confident'

A confident first-half performance from United in Van Nistelrooy’s last game in charge. They deservedly lead 2-0 with Bruno Fernandes getting his fourth goal in four games under the Dutchman and being denied a fifth because his effort came off Victor Kristiansen.
Amad Diallo is enjoying himself again and almost made it three before the interval. There are more goals in this game for United but they can’t be too over-confident.
15:00

Fantastic Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes looks like he is truly back to his best.

The Manchester United skipper was superb in that first half and deserved his goal. It was one hell of a hit too.

He also bagged an assist, although it was a bit of a dodgy one - he didn't mean it. they all count, though.

Fernandes looks to have got his mojo back.

14:55

'Ipswich worth their lead'

Ipswich worth the lead at half time and Spurs once again guilty of conceding soft goals. Porro and Johnson stood and admired Szmodics finish the first with an overhead kick. Bentancur fails to kill the counter in midfield for the second, far too easily shrugged off by Hutchinson who does well to release Davis on the left.
14:53

'Spurs have been timid'

Who saw this coming? Spurs have been timid. Ipswich have been brilliant. The Tractor Boys are halfway to their first Premier League win of the season.
14:51

HALF-TIME: Tottenham 0-2 Ipswich

Oh dear,,,

There are boos from the stands as Tottenham head down the tunnel at half-time.

They trail to winless Ipswich who have been absolutely superb on the counter attack.

Is a shock brewing?

14:50

HALF-TIME: Man United 2-0 Leicester

Ohhh, it's nearly three just before the break.

Amad Diallo breaks away and looks set to finish off the move, but Hermansen denies him brilliantly in net.

Then the whistle is blown. Ruud van Nistelrooy's final match as interim boss is going very well so far.

14:49

HALF-TIME: Nottingham Forest 1-0 Newcastle

So far, so good for Nottingham Forest.

Nuno Espirito Santo's flying Forest lead Newcastle thanks to a brilliant header from Murillo.

Both sides have had their chances and it's a surprise that there has only been one goal in this game.

It's far from over.

14:49, 45'

Man United 2-0 Leicester

If you were watching this game without seeing the scoreline, you wouldn't guess Manchester United were winning comfortably.

Old Trafford sounds frustrated, they don't exactly sound like they are having a good time.

It's been a rather good half for their side, though.

14:45

'Newcastle need to be better on set-pieces'

Newcastle would be better working set-pieces short. No matter who takes them, the delivery is very poor. Without Trippier, they lose so much in that respect.
14:44

Goal:Tottenham 0-2 Ipswich (Delap 43')

Ipswich are in dreamland!

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is stunned as Liam Delap finishes off a brilliant breakaway.

The striker smashes the ball in from two yards away after Tottenham fail to clear.

Simply incredible.

14:40, 39'

Goal:Man United 2-0 Leicester (Kristiansen OG 39')

Old Trafford celebrates once again.

Bruno Fernandes wheels away claiming his brace but it's actually an own goal from Victor Kristiansen.

The ball is swung in by Noussair Mazraoui and Fernandes gets a touch to it, but it then takes a monster knee off of the Leicester defender.

Fernandes' effort wasn't going in, so he should be thankful for the intervention.

14:38, 36'

Man United 1-0 Leicester

You can feel the nervous energy in Old Trafford.

they groan as Bruno Fernandes slips and Leicester look to pounce, but thankfully for them, Manuel Ugarte sweeps up.

The summer signing has been really good today, I must say.

14:37

'Solanke struggling with knock'

Solanke required a fair bit of treatment after the Ipswich goal. He’s back on but Werner is getting prepared on the bench. Could be another about to make his excuses to Lee Carsley…
14:36

'Szmodics executes it perfectly'

You won't see too many better goals than that this season. Sammie Szmodics executes his overhead kick perfectly, and against the run of play, and Ipswich have a shock lead at Tottenham.
14:34

Goal:Tottenham 0-1 Ipswich (Szmodics 32')

WHAT A GOAL FROM SAMMIE SZMODICS!

I can't believe what I have just seen - Szmodics executes a brilliant bicycle kick to fire Ipswich in front.

The ball drops to him and he just decides to go the acrobatic route, and he plants the ball into the bottom corner.

You won't see many better goals than that this season.

14:33, 31'

Man United 1-0 Leicester

I'd argue that Leicester have been the better side since Bruno Fernandes gave Manchester United the lead.

The visitors are cutting through United pretty easily when they want to, exploiting them on the counter.

14:31

'Amorim will love Amad'

The mind really does boggle that Amad Diallo was struggling to get a game under Erik ten Hag. He’s head and shoulders above everyone here, as he was against PAOK in the week.
His touch, his low centre of gravity, the lot, the whole package. I’m sold. Give me more Amad stocks. Ruben Amorim will love him.

14:30, 28'

BIG CHANCE! Man United 1-0 Leicester

Ooooh, that's a really good chance for Leicester!

Manchester United switch off at the back and Wilfried Ndid finds himself through in the area.

he shows why he is not a striker, though, as he can only fire the ball straight at Andre Onana.

They should be level.

14:27

'Ipswich will be pleased'

Innocuous looking injury to Hutchinson and the other nine outfield players trot across for an impromptu swig of water and a chat with McKenna, like a tactical time out. Ipswich can be pleased with the start they have made.
Forcing the best of the chances, dangerous on the break and from set pieces… but Spurs have had their chances too and are starting to settle into a better attacking rhythm.
14:27

Tottenham 0-0 Ipswich

Tottenham are starting to take control of proceedings now with Dominic Solanke starting to get into the game.

Omari Hutchinson goes down injured but thankfully for the visitors, it looks like he is OK.

14:22

Goal:Nottingham Forest 1-0 Newcastle (Murillo 22')

The City Ground erupts!

For all of Newcastle's chances, it's the hosts that take the lead through a well-worked set-piece.

Anthony Elanga clips a free-kick into the area nd Murillo charges in to head it across Nick Pope.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side hit the front again.

14:21, 20'

Man United 1-0 Leicester

That was exactly what this game needed.

The first 15 minutes had been rather drab and it was just screaming for a bit of quality.

Bruno Fernandes obviously heard those screams and decided to step up to the plate.

14:19, 17'

Goal:Man United 1-0 Leicester (Fernandes 17')

Bruno Fernandes is at it again against Leicester!

He lights up Old Trafford on his 250th appearance with one hell of a finish outside the box.

The ball comes his way and he sets his sight on the far corner, and my word does he find it with a dipping finish.

That will settle Manchester United's nerves.

14:18

CHANCE! Nottingham Forest 0-0 Newcastle

Newcastle are starting to cause Nottingham Forest some real problems.

Joe Willock is at the epicentre of most of them and he floats a cross into the box which is deflected over to Anthony Gordon at the back post.

It falls brilliantly for the winger and you just expect him to get an effort on target, but he shanks it over the ar.

He should do better.

14:16, 14'

Man United 0-0 Leicester

The final ball just hasn't been there for Manchester United as of yet.

They are getting up the pitch very well but chances just aren't being created.

A crappy one so far. I hope it doesn't last.

14:13

CHANCE! Nottingham Forest 0-0 Newcastle

Callum Hudson-Odoi is a very lucky boy there...

The winger misplaced a header horribly on the edge of his own box and it falls straight for Joe Willock.

The Newcastle man shifts the ball left and then aims for the top corner, but his finish is poor.

14:12, 9'

Man United 0-0 Leicester

Not many chances to report from Old Trafford, thus far.

Manchester United started with some intent but that seems to have faded already.

Let's hope it livens up, eh?

14:11

'Burn suspended'

Dan Burn will now miss the home game vs West Ham after his fifth booking of the season for a foul on Gibbs-White. It shouldn't have come to that though, because referee Taylor missed a forearm from Yates in face of Livramento. Newcastle's bench are furious, and rightly so.
14:10

Tottenham 0-0 Ipswich

Ipswich have started well here.

They are having a positive spell with the ball and trying to fashion some openings.

Tottenham are not at their best yet.

14:09

'Full-backs chop and change'

One thing I think incoming boss Ruben Amorim needs to settle on quickly is who is the left back and who is the right back. Today it is Mazraoui at left back and Diogo Dalot at right back. But the two seem to chop and change by the game and that cannot be helpful in the longer term if this United side are to be successful. I get keeping opponents guessing but continuity is king for me. Make a choice and stick with it.
14:06, 4'

Man United 0-0 Leicester

Amad Diallo has had a brilliant start here at Old Trafford.

He displays his dancing feet on the right-hand side before being hacked down by Abdul Fatawu.

It seems he is continuing his form from midweek.

14:04, 2'

Man United 0-0 Leicester

Leicester are already a mess at the back...

Rasmus Hojlund manages to win the ball by his own box as he pressurises the Fozes defence.

Marcus Rashford then picks up the ball but he can't find a team-mate around him.

A decent start for the hosts.

14:02, 1'

KICK-OFF: Man United 0-0 Leicester

Right, now proceedings are underway at Old Trafford.

Are we going to get the thriller we saw just two weeks ago, or will it be a tense affair?

We will find out over the next 90 minutes.

14:01

KICK-OFF: Nottingham Forest 0-0 Newcastle

The City Ground is absolutely bouncing.

The atmosphere here is buzzing and I can just feel that this game is going to be a belter.

The ball is now rolling...

14:00

Old Trafford remembers

Old Trafford shows its' respect to those who we lost during the First World War with a minute's silence.

The Last Post is then played beautifully and it feels like the stadium stands still.

There is then a big cheer from the crowd as it comes to an end and we are nearly ready to go.

14:00

KICK-OFF: Tottenham 0-0 Ipswich

The Last Post has been played and a minute's silence observed, and now we are ready for action.

There is a big roar as the teams take to their positions and then the game gets underway.

Which way will this one go?

13:54

'McKenna has gone defensive'

Kieran McKenna is back at Tottenham for the first time as a manager. He started at Spurs as a player and started his coaching career in the club’s academy and many will view him as a potential Spurs boss in the future after his excellent work at Ipswich. So it will be interesting to see how his team go about it.
McKenna has added a little extra defensive protection into the team with full back Ben Johnson looking as if he will line up wide on the right where he no doubt be expected to help deal with the threat of Heung-min Son.
Timo Werner a little bit of a surprise inclusion on the bench. He has been nursing a slight groin problem but it is important for Postecoglou to have him available with so many options missing: Richarlison, Odobert and Moore.

13:49

'United's strongest line-up'

It’s a damp and misty Old Trafford for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s final game as interim manager before Ruben Amorim arrives tomorrow.
Van Nistelrooy has reverted to his strongest line-up with the exception of Alejandro Garnacho, replaced by Marcus Rashford as Amad Diallo kept his spot as a reward for his Europa League double against PAOK on Thursday.
United start the game in 13th place. Defeat would see Leicester move above them in the table, but Van Nistelrooy will be hoping for another big win over Leicester to move up a place or two.
13:46

Leicester Old Trafford troubles

Leicester's record at Old Trafford is pretty pants, it has to be said.

The Foxes have only managed one win away at United out of their last 14 tries.

That win was back in May 2021 and there was not a single Leicester fan in attendance to see it due to Covid.

Will they be able to replicate that special night today?

13:43

'United struggle for goals'

I keep turning up here hoping United are going to fly out the blocks of games… and yet I should know better. United have the biggest negative difference between goals (9) and expected goals (16.8 xG) in the Premier League so far this season (-7.8).
Just two of their nine goals have come in the first half of games – the joint-fewest in the division along with Crystal Palace. Let’s hope today is the day things turn around (I’ll never learn).
13:42

Kick-off coming soon

Anticipation is really building inside Old Trafford.

The two teams are just finishing their warm ups in what are foggy conditions and then it will be time for the team talks.

I wonder what Ruud van Nistelrooy will say - will it be some dramatic final speech?

Probably not...

13:36

'I fancy a Newcastle win'

No surprises with the Newcastle team, which is unchanged from the win over Arsenal. And that game might just have set the blueprint for how they need to perform going forward - ceding possession and playing on the transition. It should suit them here and I fancy an away win.
I’m disappointed not to see Elliot Anderson start for Forest, who are also unchanged. But I’m sure he’ll have an impact from the bench at some point.
13:34

250 up for Bruno

Wow, time really flies, doesn't it?

When Bruno Fernandes leads Manchester United out today, he will step onto the pitch in a red shirt for the 250th time.

I can't believe he has already been there that long - I guess he did join nearly five years ago.

The club have handed him a special framed shirt ahead of kick-off, a nice touch.

13:28

We've been here before...

It feels like just a couple of weeks ago that Manchester United beat Leicester in the FA Cup.

Oh wait, it was...

In the first game after Erik ten Hag's sacking, United finally found their shooting boots.

The the Carabao Cup round of 16, they shipped five past Leicester with both Casemiro and `bruno fernandes bagging braces.

Leicester's defence was extremely poor that day, but they did cause United some problems going forward, netting twice themselves.

Let's hope we are in for another cracker today.

13:24

On the way to Old Trafford

The atmosphere is starting to build over in Manchester.

The fans are making their way to the stadium and some are even sporting the old kits of their interim boss.

I can just sense that it is going to be an emotional day with Ruud van Nistelrooy potentially on his way out.

Will it be goodbye?

13:19

Newcastle mean business

These are the faces of players taking today's match very seriously.

Mail Sport's Craig Hope managed to capture the Newcastle side arriving at the City Ground earlier, there was not a smile in sight.

I'm expecting a serious performance with that look of focus now. I mean, you'd expect that as a minimum anyway.

Still, my point stands...

13:16

Tottenham aim to close in on top four

If results go their way today, Tottenham could end the day in fifth.

If they manage to be winless Ipswich, while their rivals Chelsea and Arsenal play out a draw, then they will leapfrog the pair of them.

there are a lot of 'ifs' in this scenario, though.

Tottenham are such an inconsistent side. One week they win and get their supporters' hopes up, the next they will lose.

Three points are a necessity today if they are serious about challenging for the Champions League places.

You'd expect them to get the job done, wouldn't you?

I guess we will have to wait and see.

13:11

Can Amad shine again?

After his performance in midweek, Amad Diallo deservedly gets another start today.

He was in dire need of a strong display, and my word did he deliver against PAOK.

The winger was Manchester United's shining light in what was a tough watch at times.

Ruud van Nistelrooy has put his trust in him once more with Alejandro dropping to the bench.

He netted twice in the week and will be hungry to score some more goals today.

Against a leaky Leicester defence, I can see it happening.

Rashford's love of Leicester

I bet Marcus Rashford is buzzing to be back in the line-up seeing as they are playing Leicester.

The winger has a brilliant record against the Foxes, he always seems to have a say against them.

In fact, he has netted eight times against them in all competitions during his career.

That's more goals than he has managed against any other team.

'United will have too much for Leicester'

Alan Shearer, former Newcastle forward, speaking to Betfair:

Manchester United will have too much for Leicester here. It wouldn't surprise me if it ends similarly to the Carabao Cup game, as I'd fancy them to score a few goals again with how they play, and how open Leicester are.
Ruben Amorim won’t be here yet, but I think after Sporting’s win over Man City, there will be an extra buzz in the air at Old Trafford.

Nuno's flying Forest

I can't wait to see Nottingham Forest in action again.

Nuno Espirito Santo has the East Midlands side absolutely flying this season as they sit third in the Premier League.

If they beat Newcastle at the City Ground today they can go within a point of Manchester City.

Their progression truly is astounding, nobody could have predicted this at the start of the season.

Can they continue their fine form today?

Can United give send of Ruud warrants?

I found Ruud van Nistelrooy’s programme notes really interesting when I arrived at Old Trafford this morning. Here’s a flavour for you:
'I have worked with this squad every day since the summer and I can tell you that there is huge potential in these players, from the experienced pros down to the lads coming through the Academy. The coaches, club staff and supporters all have a role in helping those players become the best they can be.
'It starts with the players who hold themselves and each other accountable, because playing for Manchester United requires massive character, hard work and dedication every single day. There’s no hiding place.'
No doubt Ruben Amorim, who officially starts work as United’s new head coach in the morning, will be pushing a similar mantra. Pressure is a privilege and there is no environment more of a pressure cooker than here at Manchester United. Let’s see if they can handle it this afternoon to give Van Nistelrooy the send-off he warrants after a successful mini-spell in charge as interim boss.

Newcastle Team News - UNCHANGED

There are no changes in the Newcastle team either.

I mean, this is the side that managed to beat Arsenal last week thanks to an Alexander Isak header.

He will be eager for goals once again.

12:47

Nottingham Forest Team News - NO changes

Why change a winning formula, eh?

Nuno Espirito has kept with the same starting line-up that battered West Ham at the City Ground last week.

It means Chris Wood is up top as usual - will he bag against his old club?

12:47

Ipswich Team News - Tuanzebe is BACK

Look who's back, eh?

Axel Tuanzebe returns after his bizarre hand injury and is one of three changes from Kieran McKenna.

Kalvin Phillips misses out after getting a red card in the draw to Leicester last week.

12:46

Tottenham Team News - Romero RETURNS

Tottenham fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

Cristian Romero returns to the starting line-up after missing the loss against Galatasaray through injury.

Ange Postecoglou has decided to stick with the same team that thumped Aston Villa last weekend.

It means James Maddison goes back to being on the bench.

12:46

Leicester Team News - Ayew STARTS

There is no Jamie Vardy for Leicester...

The Leicester skipper is absent and Jordan Ayew replaces him up top after his late equaliser at Ipswich last week.

there are two further changes as Boubakary Soumare and James Justin both return to start.

12:45

Man United Team News - Diallo STARTS

Here is Ruud van Nistelrooy's last Manchester United starting line-up.

Amad Diallo returns to the starting line-up after his impressive display against PAOK in the Europa League.

Overall, there are three changes from that match in midweek with Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez coming back in.

Can this team get the job done?

Van Nistelrooy: 'It has been special'

Ruud van Nistelrooy, Manchester United boss, speaking on Friday:

It has been a special period and it was important to get through the four games as well as we could. We've done very well so far - the players reacted very well in the games. The focus is now to build on that and show that on Sunday with a big game ahead and a massive three points there to win.
I've enjoyed it. The reaction of the players was outstanding. As an assistant you are quite close to players, so in the past three months I've spent a lot of time with the players and got to know them very well as human beings and also as football players, where they are in their development and how I can help. I think that relationship is helping now that we are together and we want to achieve something together.
The appetite to build further within this club is stronger than the other bit [being a manager himself]. I made a deliberate decision to step into this role for two seasons and take it from there. These four games haven't changed that sentiment and that's why I said at the beginning what my intentions were - also after my interim job.

Ruud's last hurrah

Is this the last time we see Ruud van Nistelrooy in the Manchester United dugout?

While we know Ruben Amorim will be taking the rains after this match, it is yet to be seen if the Dutchman will stay in the backroom staff.

Either way, Van Nistelrooy will want to finish his spell as interim boss on a high.

He is yet to lose while in charge with his first win actually coming against Leicester in the Carabao Cup.

United really flexed their muscles that day and he will need them to do the same if they are to start motoring in the Premier League.

The Red Devils sit 13th but can go level with Bournemouth in 11th with a victory.

You feel like this is a must-win match for United.

Saturday RECAP

Before we really tuck into the build-up for today's matches, I think it's best we throw it back to yesterday.

I think I have only just caught my breath back from what was a relentless day of action.

It felt like a significant afternoon in the Premier League title race as Liverpool went five points clear at the top.

Arne Slot's Reds put Aston Villa to the sword as goals from Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah made it 15 wins from 17 matches in all competitions.

Meanwhile, the champions Manchester City did not have such a good evening as they suffered their fourth successive defeat.

Pep Guardiola's side relinquished an early lead yet again as Brighton came from behind to mount more misery on City.

At the other end of the table, Wolves finally got their first win of the season, beating Southampton, while Julen Lopetegui's concerns only grew as West Ham were held to a goalless draw by Everton.

Brentford once again provided the entertainment by edging a five-goal thriller against Bournemouth.

Their west London rivals Fulham also had a brilliant day with a convincing 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Got all that?

Well, if you haven't I can't help you anymore!
