Adam Andrade Listening to this record is like getting kidnapped by 4th dimensional aliens who then probe your brain with an onslaught of intense sounds jagged shapes and sharp angles to see if primitive being like us can even comprehend what Weston Super Maim have delivered on this record. Favorite track: Perfect Meadows In Every Direction.

MyNameIsRedundant If 180 degree murder was a proof-of-concept for a record, then this is 2 full records ahead of that.
In no uncertain terms, Maim have beyond outdone themselves, by every conceivable metric, this has smashed it out of the park.
I think the most marked improvement is the pacing. for an album as intense as SYTB is, there isn't a moment worth skipping, not to say that 180 or neglected were rife with such things, but doing 200mph for 8mins, you'd expect a crash, but not here, never here. Favorite track: Kryptonite Renegade.

No, no, no This is beautiful This is ART! It is the end This is nothing You are the end I am nothing Such is life Such is the sanctity of death It’s our great privilege To know this hurt Streaming to the crest of the earth Shoals of tiny birds Twisting through the air Guided by the blood on our backs In accordance with the dictates of reason Let's fucking dance See you tomorrow my darling Goodbye
2.
Someone bludgeon the fuck out of me! Crush my hands on dead innocence I’m not hearing you speak This wasn't for a reason And don't you say "God" I'll shit in your mouth And tear out your tongue In my gall, in my trance, I kill all In my gall, in my trance, from now on I don't believe in reality, I am here On the spectrum of glistening self-destruction Autistic sensory of rage I am depleting you Blinded from your blood A plethora of curses upon you Your name in vein Spills the same as the blood from your throat There is no ecstasy in your suffering For I feel nothing Human offal understands me like no other Wearing your skin like an embrace from a brother I only ever wanted to believe you'd listen Now I sit alone chewing on your ear like gristle The amount of organs exposed is so absurd Ingesting your tongue so I control your words Fertilizer for the worms A chance at reincarnation When a tree grows I take pleasure In its immolation There is no ecstasy in your suffering For I feel nothing Digging through sinew This is the climax I escape into The ultra-pure Reaching for Ultimate mystery Ultimate pain
3.
Slow Hell 04:17
Streaming awful purity ripped from the oculus gaze At the zenith of a nightmare Crystal clear blood spraying from the heart Soaking back into the wound of imperial loss Ethanol, the patriarch, sombre and pale The mechanism destined to fail Child not of divine passage Withering in faith and skin Weathered from tears Sits alone without the answer, trembling in fear Oh how we lust without the know How we wonder in a weeping rage We shriek in acceptance of the misery That we are not home... he is not home Slow hell Your hell unfolds in slow motion
4.
Numb from brain to bone The worlds all come down Instantly Nonexistent Accelerate the heavens Colliding with everything Your chest explodes Mauling Decomposing Beating the living fuck out of me I can't feel a thing I'm in the perfect alexithymic state All the concern and the smile on my face And the sleep that never comes I have escaped once and for all Brain-first into the void Burn it down Calloused Born with a taste for agony And the sleep that never comes I have escaped once and for all Lubricated and cold I’ve begun to fold Lubricated and cold Give me my family In all of their pain Dehydrate
5.
Brute Fact 04:48
Covertly, bring me their ashes Unadulterated, bring me their guts I need their presence I need the piss of their being Gift the worst Gift the ruin Ahhhhhhhhhh! I miss the dopamine of love Question: to be replaced with hate? We can’t be solemn in this loss Eternity never was So I vomit out that thought And rip into self-abuse Bone isn’t the deepest I can go My bone is the last thing on my mind But I don’t, I have further to go And I need the piss I need to bury myself in this shit In your soil The rank of that once called life Bone isn’t the deepest I can go
6.
Melting down from red to green The clouds above dwarfed by my exhalation Pupils grow, swelling to the unnorm Entering the numb once called never Oh....the alternate Oh....essence of life Reek and putrid glass Heat of the gods The prism messiah Shard of the supplemental Replenish my energy Cancelling and diverting Forced unconscious Automatic shutdown Ten and two... ten and two I am a slave to the barrel Awake in a pool of sweat Emaciated but gorging on the chemicals Reifying frailty I can make this last forever The crystal messiah Retracing and inverting Benzo-assist exit plan But it’s time to end this The blistered lips And shattered hands
7.
Guts filled with minerals from the path I carve They are alive in the ground – shove it down my throat Blind and unfortunate, they hold no clue Swathed in a shroud of infinite torment You birthed this It’s chewing your senses It’s flawless, the conqueror I barely felt the kiss of her pale wings Raze me into the air Under our feet they sow Replenishing the uncertainty Coping in soil And I’m not here Unhinged disbelief That I can't hold You are not alone I want you to know this We’re in fucking hell! This is fucking hell! Guts filled with minerals from the path I carve They are alive in the ground – shove it down my throat Blind and unfortunate they hold no clue Bastardized and numb Bastardized and fucking numb No! No is the question No is the way Knowledge of this leaves all my bones to break No! No is the question No is the fucking way Knowledge of this leaves all my bones to break
8.
Cascading to the grave Mass divided by acceleration On nascent angel limbs I clawed too far Beyond the reach of the sun But I learned that you can use death To relinquish a shot at a normal life And yet I am risen I prefer it, I prefer this This is what I want There was too much light I seamed the gaps with carbon And crushed them shut Writhing in the glint Of all the knowledge I have gained I’m flattened into a seam of radiance (let’s glow) Hidden within indifference, waving so frantic Give back to what gives us light And then detonate Tell me your existential thoughts Grieving for a loss you've yet to incur I saw your demons Swarming, scaling, saturating you But I learned that you can use death You can use death to restart your life Push Push yourself to become whole Pull Pull yourself back into your soul And we've been through so much And we'll go through so much more We deserve this Perfect meadows In every direction We deserve this

about

Imagine if Meshuggah couldn’t count. Transatlantic extreme tech/progressive nutters Weston Super Maim are back to ruin your lives with their singular style of brain-destroying metal. Having been wrongly described as 'ones to watch' by Metal Hammer in 2021, the band has spent the intervening years worsening its sound in preparation for upcoming full-length ‘See You Tomorrow Baby’. Set for release on 15 March 2024, the album sees Weston Super Maim go fully bananas, with eight expansive tracks and guest spots from members of Frontierer, Soreption and Blindfolded and Led to the Woods. It’s faster, heavier, insaner, more beautiful and more epic than anything the band has written previously. The theme? Death, of course. Strap yourselves in: the boys are back in town.
