ARC provides technology and support for research projects. This includes making resources available for statistical analyses, research data storage, automating data backup and making sharing information easier. Using ARC, researchers can focus their time and efforts on their work and reduce the amount of IT overhead in their projects.

Adobe Creative Cloud gives you a collection of desktop and mobile apps, from essentials like Photoshop to innovative new tools like Adobe XD. It is free for all students and 25% of faculty and staff.
UNCW-owned computers come with antivirus installed.
It is important to install antivirus protection on your computer.
The ITS Special Events group offers several packages (including sound, video, lighting, recording and/or live streaming, and technicians) for assisting with special events. There are also a limited number of laptops, projectors and screens that can be checked out for events.
Banner is UNCW's enterprise resource planning ( ERP) system. It supports Finance, Housing, Payroll, HR and other processes.
Cable TV services are provided for common areas of residence halls, which were designated by Housing and Residence Life, as well as in academic and administrative areas. Cable TV is not available in individual residence hall rooms.
Canvas is UNCW's Learning Management System (LMS). It is an online education technology used for campus courses to help drive student & faculty success.
A clicker is a device that integrates into a PowerPoint presentation and allows users to participate by submitting responses to questions and viewing immediate feedback. They help class engagement, assess learning and gather data. You can purchase clickers in the UNCW Bookstore or online.

We support office phones, voicemail, fax services, telephone billing inquiries, and voice or data cabling quotes. Additionally, we help with mobile device issues and UNCW mobile device requests.
The Technology Assistance Center can help students, faculty and staff with their personal computers and devices.

Distribution groups (sometimes called distribution lists) are email solutions to help users communicate and collaborate with colleagues and partners. They specific to one area or purpose, and the membership is maintained via a ticket.
Distribution lists are limited to @uncw.edu email addresses and will have a @uncw.edu address. such as [email protected].

Whether you are on or off campus, using a PC, Mac or mobile device, you can access UNCW software through Horizon. This is a secure, private cloud for the UNCW campus community. Horizon includes updated versions of the most commonly used applications in both stand-alone and desktop form.
A listserv is a single email address that distributes the message to the email addresses of all its members. Mail sent to a listserv will have an address similar to [email protected].
Listservs can be used in cases where groups contain members outside of UNCW. List membership is managed by one or more administrators.

*Faculty & Staff, please do not download one of your 5 copies of Office on your UNCW-owned machine. UNCW provides separate licenses for UNCW-owned machines, which do not subtract from the 5 copies you can install on your personal devices.

SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is UNCW's centralized reporting tool. This service allows appropriately credentialed individuals to gain access to relevant data via a Web browser.
Faculty and staff at UNCW can access the SSRS Web Reporting Portal to use the SSRS Report Manager, which is a web-based interface that provides user-level access to reports.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), provides an extra layer of protection to your account by verifying your identity through a second method or factor when granting access to university resources.
The VPN (Virtual Private Network) allows for authenticated, encrypted connections to UNCW campus computing resources. You can access and use the Web servers and any other UNCW computing services from off-campus locations as if you were on campus. We recommend that any files you wish to access from off-campus through the VPN be moved to OneDrive, rather than connecting to a local desktop in your office.
