Earlier this month, our team had the pleasure of participating in the West Midlands Health Tech Innovation Accelerator - WMHTIA International Assembly! 🎉 West Midlands Health Tech Innovation Accelerator - WMHTIA is collaborating with us to bring our Health Accelerator to life, and this flagship event brought together nearly 300 UK and international health tech innovators, researchers, suppliers, and industry specialists at the NEC in Birmingham. With recent announcements of continued financial support for Innovation Accelerators across the UK, the Assembly shone a spotlight on the vital role regional innovation programmes play in driving commercial growth, attracting investment, and empowering businesses to create new products, processes, and services. It was an incredible moment to showcase the region and the impact of WMHTIA as we look forward to the next phase of the accelerator in the coming year. Fabian Scheugenpflug, our Health Principal, took part in the panel at the event, while Agata Maria Bendik and Adam McGuinness hosted workshops on Strategic Partnerships and how to maximise their potential by tapping into our work with corporate partners. This isn’t about flying drones across London, this is about creating a network that can save lives” - Dr Hammad Jeilani, Co-founder of Apian and Medical Director. 🩸 Last week, our team witnessed the future of healthcare delivery with Apian. Apian’s API facilitates the integration of the healthcare industry with the drone industry. Its first drone hub is the result of a collaboration with Wing and Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. This is the first project of its kind to receive airspace approval in a major European city - a complex feat managed by the NHS spin-out. Whilst visiting the drone hub atop Guy’s Cancer Center we were able to witness three urgent deliveries of blood samples in less than an hour, each shaving precious minutes off vital lab processes. This healthcare logistics solution is not just about efficiency; it directly impacts treatments and has the potential to save lives, particularly at scale. 🎉 The 8th edition of IAG’s Hangar 51 Accelerator is a wrap! On November 27, 2024, our partner International Airlines Group (IAG) held their annual Demo Day at their HQ in London — a final event to conclude the 8th Hangar 51 Accelerator 🚀 British Airways, Iberia, Vueling Airlines, IAG Loyalty and the selected startups reflected on the key lessons and takeaways from their collaboration, presenting on topics ranging from SAF, carbon removal, and operational efficiency, to enhancing passenger experiences both online and at airports.
