So many great research stories to choose from but here are just 12 from the NIHR this year. Research like this is happening all the time to improve treatments, prevent illness and just generally make people's lives better. See if you can read the one about the little girl who can now hear thanks to gene therapy without getting a bit teary... https://lnkd.in/eEkcy-vZ

There's 8 days to go! 🎄 Did you know 354 general practices (GPs) have now committed to National Contract Value Review (NCVR)? NCVR improves the speed, efficiency and consistency of research costing and contracting activities and has recently been expanded to primary care as a voluntary scheme for general practices. This streamlined approach bolsters the UK’s position as an attractive place for health and care research, which ultimately creates more opportunities for patients to access cutting-edge treatments. New Clinical Trials legislation has been laid in Parliament today that will address the research sector's need for a more efficient, streamlined and adaptable regulatory framework for clinical trials. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and the Health Research Authority (HRA) will now begin implementing the biggest overhaul of clinical trials regulations in 20 years. These reforms will make the UK a more attractive place for innovators to conduct important research and will help to get potentially life-changing new treatments to patients and the NHS as quickly as possible. Once made into law, the new legislation will come into force following a 12-month implementation period to ensure readiness, with support from health system partners including the Health Research Authority (HRA), academia and researchers.
