NIHR's Research Programme for Social Care has funded a project which aims to improve the lives of children in care. Cat Chatfield (our NIHR Journals Library Editor-in-Chief) and Kate Sonpal have written a comprehensive inclusive language guide for authors and editors. The guide describes the language the NIHR Journals Library uses, and the language we ask our authors to use, to create and foster inclusive outputs. It is aimed at researchers, authors and editors who are producing work to be published in the NIHR Journals Library. However, it is a useful tool for all those working in the NIHR. NIHR has awarded its first Doctoral Fellowship in #MotorNeuroneDisease (MND) research to Kirsty Harrison, a speech & language therapist University of East Anglia Jointly funded with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association , Kirsty’s research aims to improve care and support for individuals living with this condition. MND is a neurodegenerative disease that affects motor neurone function, profoundly impacting the lives of those diagnosed. This fellowship not only supports future leaders in applied health & social care research but also fosters collaboration with the MND community. The NIHR, in partnership with the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association has awarded the first NIHR MND Association Doctoral Fellowship. The researcher, Kirsty Harrison, an Associate Professor in Speech and Language Therapy at the University of East Anglia will focus on co-developing a self-management intervention for eating, drinking, and swallowing for people with MND.
