🌍𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗼-𝗶𝗻𝗽𝘂𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗡𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗹 🌱 We recently held two key workshops in Nepal to explore potential collaborations aimed at improving agro-input dealer training and scaling up augmentative biocontrol solutions. 👩🌾𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗼-𝗜𝗻𝗽𝘂𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 This workshop was held to assess the training needs of agro-input dealers on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and augmentative biocontrol. We learned that the current 6-day training relies on PowerPoint presentations, but participants were keen to explore blended learning approaches to improve engagement, knowledge retention and outcomes. 🐝𝗔𝘂𝗴𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 During the workshop, we explored opportunities for scaling up augmentative biocontrol in Nepal. A key focus was the potential of Trichoderma, a biocontrol agent, to address major crop and pest challenges. Participants, including representatives from government bodies, research institutions, biocontrol producers, and local agricultural producers, highlighted the need for expanded biocontrol solutions to support sustainable agricultural practices and enhance pest management. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 Our workshops in Nepal highlighted the urgent need to scale up sustainable pest management solutions, which is a priority for the Nepal government. We’re excited to continue working with stakeholders to improve agro-input training and expand biocontrol solutions in the country to support safer, more sustainable agriculture.
