CHANGE FOR BETTER OR WORSE For some participants, attending the Leading Through Change (LTC) programme can be very challenging – they just cannot abide change in any form. Maybe it’s because it signifies coming out of their comfort zone and whatever it is, it’s going to be bad – and bad experiences of change can linger a lifetime. Coping with change affects us all to some degree and we may find ourselves using words like, ‘unnecessary’ or ‘too expensive’ to signify our lack of enthusiasm. But, as leaders of teams, we are the ones who have responsibility for achieving change and in many cases probably initiating it in the first place. So, how do we get the team on our side when major changes are about to be introduced? The principles are really quite straightforward – it’s the way we do it that counts! Understand the needs fully yourself –then brief the team, including the ’what it is‘ and ‘why it is’ of the strategic decision and the ‘benefits’ for everyone. Now, the important bit, discuss how ‘we’ are going to achieve it and the tactics needed to create a plan. This is the chance to talk through any concerns but firmly and with direction. Finally, work through the changes and encourage the team to accept that change is a regular part of every working day. Handling these types of everyday situations are crucially important parts of good leadership and leading a team through change is certainly a key event. P.S. The most stoney faced participant who attended the LTC begrudgingly, hardly said a word in day one but her team encouraged her throughout and at the end she tearfully said “I really enjoyed that”. What do you notice when you look at your plans for the week? Here's some of what's coming up in my week ...   Personal vision & planning workshops and coaching sessions with clients, coordinating the signing and distribution of the Bricks & Mortar Legacy book, a business owner's Christmas get-together, the Misty Flicks Film Festival, time outdoors, exercise, and catching up with friends and family. What I notice is that the combination of activities reflects what's important to me... - Helping clients live well - Supporting others in business  - Spending time with loved ones - Prioritising my health and wellbeing - Using my skills to help in the community Over the years, I’ve learnt to pay attention to what’s in my calendar and regularly ask myself: Is this reflective of the life I want to be living? If the answer is no, I need to make some changes. If the answer is yes, it’s full steam ahead!  Our plans, what we put in our calendar and what we give attention, energy and focus to shape our lives. So it makes sense to check if it aligns with how we want to live, right. How's your week looking? Live well.

CPD... Do you believe in it, do it or don't think you need it? Please don't read any further if you have any unresolved trauma around the topic of suicide 🙏❤. "Continuing, or continuous, professional development (CPD), can be broadly defined as any type of learning you undertake which increases your knowledge, understanding and experiences of a subject area or role." I couldn't imagine not learning, whether: ✔taking up a new course, ✔ reading a new academic research or book, ✔brushing up on existing knowledge, ✔taking up a new hobby, ✔learning a new language... CPD is necessary for me to keep myself up to date and current with all things coaching. CPD is necessary, in my opinion, for growth. CPD is necessary for my next credential. However, I sometimes also choose CPD for personal reasons and my latest choice sits close to my heart ❤. Attending "Navigating suicidality in Coaching" with Jayne Morris MCC and Jo Reeves PCC offered me not only confirmation of what I already knew but also an invaluable reminder of the powerful emotions linked to this topic. However much knowledge we have, our emotions can still take us by surprise and it is important to be as ready as possible. ➡️ Signposting resources, ➡️ Next of kins details, ➡️ Remaining calm even if it's hard, ➡️ Listening, connecting, not changing the subject and if concerned don't be afraid to ask if they have suicidal thoughts, ➡️ Encourage them to get help... I was shocked to learn that 1 in 5 people will have suicidal thoughts at some point in their lives. Training, resources and preparation are all very important, but make sure to look after yourself too, putting your own mask on will help you manage your own emotions more effectively. #CPD #coaching #suicidalthoughts #askingsaveslives #signposting #empathy #resilience

PRICE CHANGES FOR MASTERCLASSES About our usual ERI Masterclasses, now rebranded as MEP Masterclasses........ ...................................... M= Mindset Growth E= Entrepreneurship P= Personal Development. .............................. The current rate of 350k per person ends this year, with the Arua intake of September. Effective January 2025, the fee will be 500K per person for all Masterclasses across the country, Arua, Gulu, Kampala etc alike. This is equivalent of only 100K UGX per day. In a moderate hotel in Uganda, half of this money will cover breakfast, lunch, water, stationery. We haven't mentioned venue yet. A small portion is left to cover costs of the facilitation team. Rates for our upcoming Masterclasses in Juba South Sudan, Tanzania and Kenya will be higher, due to the higher costs in these places.

The starting point of a Business Coaching Programme with me is a Strategy Session. This is where we dig deep under the bonnet of your business to identify your goals, your current challenges, and develop a plan of actions and strategies for delivering them. 🗒️ Clients sometimes liken this to therapy. It’s definitely not therapy, but working with a business coach can be the first time that you’re able to offload everything in your head, have someone listen intently to you, and then create the space to think clearly. 🤯 My job is to help them unpick everything in their head to give them clarity, support them with proven business strategies and techniques, hold them accountable and true to what they want, and support them to deliver it. 🤔 Sometimes it also involves pointing out the blindingly obvious, but of course we can never see the what’s at the end of our nose! KINGDOM COACHING Kingdom Coaching is the most recent niche within Javelin Success and something I’ve been thinking of for a while. It’s a particular type of coaching and mentoring programme aimed at supporting and encouraging Christians in the workplace. The coaching process is intentionally designed to affect people at the heart and mind level, but which actually makes a difference to the way we live and do life and work. Effective coaching is about actively listening and asking good questions. Jesus was the Master Questioner. And He often answered questions with a question. If Jesus had only told people what to do, they would just be getting more teaching. But by asking specific and appropriate questions, He allowed them to discover the answers they needed. In coaching others I don’t tell people what to do, but the questions and the space and time given in the sessions to reflect on the important matters of the heart, helps the individual to process and work out how they can live out their faith in practice. Biblical mentoring can also be a part of the programme. This is more directive and supportive when the individual needs more guidance in their Biblical knowledge or where the person wants to implement that knowledge in a practical way.
