At Meetings last week, the team talked a lot with different AV suppliers from around the country. One thing was a common theme - with budgets still tight at the moment, some of the oldest techniques can be the most effective. There's nothing more simple than light. Humans respond in a primal way to light, so light can still do amazing things, highlighting the striking qualities of a space or bringing it to life in different ways. Light creates emotion; it hides and reveals. While it might be great to get projection mapping, holograms, or giant LED screens when the budget allows, we can't lose sight of the power of light. #events #lighting

Is it just me or are printers a***holes? Yes, in case you're worried, I am just talking about the objectionable machines that sit in the corners of our offices occasionally deciding to do what they're meant to be doing. Genuinely I've never owned a printer that just works. With our current one you send something to print and it goes "Nope, I'm not here. Printer offline". And then you sit and wait and at some point over the next 2-10 minutes it suddenly decides "Oh go on then". At least when it does print it does a decent job though. Our previous one would do the same except that you might have to disconnect it and reconnect it a few times before it kicked into gear. And then it would often decide that the paper was a millimetre or two out of position and chew it up to the point of us having to open it up and wrench it out, covered in ink. And after not too long it just forgot how to print and started adding creative little lines all over the pages and holding back on certain colours just for fun. With tech advancing at such a gallop, how can I not find a printer that simply does what it's meant to do, when it's meant to do it? Maybe the industry is working on its environmental credentials and trying to stop unnecessary printing? Rant over.
