The excellent quarterly Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) market outlook briefing for members again illustrated the lack of predictability in #BEV #LCV, impacted by change of Government and continuing uncertainty over whether the 2035 ban will be rolled back for car, cars & vans or neither; effective trade body lobbying for retention and expansion of incentives for van fleet operators and MOT/ driver’s hours/ tachograph rules required to embolden the 4.25T derogation; mechanisms available to manufacturers until 2027 that make the BEV mandate a non-linear equation; nevertheless, increasing product coming to market; accessibility of public charging spaces; energy capacity constraints at depots; and still more factors. Strong overall van demand will be mirrored in strong BEV uptake as confidence grows in both vehicle #suitability and #operational #efficacy. It is this most important factor that is not always understood or factored into transition projects. The end result must be uninterrupted - ideally enhanced - customer fulfilment, hand in hand with cost and carbon savings. We've gained some new followers recently, so if you're new to AutoRaise, here's a quick history of how an idea evolved into a charity supporting apprentices and bodyshops in the auto industry. AutoRaise started as a small working group of vehicle repairers who saw the need for a modern apprenticeship standard. What began in 2012 as an initiative between Fix Auto Dagenham and Barking & Dagenham College has now evolved into a charity with a single mission: to promote the vehicle repair industry as a sustainable and rewarding career path. Chris Oliver and a team of leading repairers helped build a new, government-backed multiskilled apprenticeship framework, setting the stage for today’s Trailblazer Apprenticeship Standards. In 2016, this dedicated group formalised their efforts, becoming a Charitable Incorporated Organisation with a mission to bring new talent into the industry. At AutoRaise, we’re all about engaging young people, nurturing apprentices, and supporting the future owners and leaders of our industry. This is just a snapshot of our history. 📢 GSF Car Parts has announced over 20% year-on-year revenue growth, with plans to open another 40 branches in 2025. 📊 The announcement comes quick on the heels of data from Factor Sales, reporting growth across the wider aftermarket car parts segment. GSF claimed that data showed that the sector notched up by 6.5% year-on-year growth for September, continuing a pattern that has seen eight out of nine months in 2024 trading ahead of 2023. The market growth suggests that consumers are keeping their cars longer, increasing demand for repairs and replacement parts.
