📈 RECRUITMENT TRENDS WITHIN THE ELECTRONIC COMPONENT INDUSTRY! 📈 With many currently looking into roles within the industry, I thought it would be a perfect time to give you an insight into some of the common trends we are finding within the industry! 👇 1️⃣ Let's be honest, it is not always evident when a candidate has specialised skills! This is something we often advise our candidates to highlight better whether that be on their CV, their LinkedIn or generally highlighting their expertise during conversations! You never know, your skill may be the key to someone else's problem! ⚒️ 2️⃣ Similar to the above, with the growing use of automation and AI, it is becoming increasingly important to be as specific as possible with your skillsets, especially on your CV! Don't make the mistake of being disregarded due to not putting key information on your CV! 📃 3️⃣ Flexible working has become more common over the years, especially with recent discussions of implementing a four-day week! However, something we are noticing is that due to the pandemic affecting the ability to create an office culture, multiple companies are now looking to have candidates willing to go into the office, even if it is just once a week! This is something I would advise you to consider when looking for a new role (dependent on the role of course). ⌛ 4️⃣This links back to my previous post about doing background research into companies and this growing trend has given candidates an advantage they may not have had before. The increasing information entering the public domain as a result of this has enabled candidates to complete more in-depth research on both the company and those that work for the company too! I thoroughly enjoy assisting engineers in finding new permanent jobs. Last week, I successfully helped a Manufacturing Engineer and a Service Engineer find new positions that suited their skills and interests. Both candidates were not only qualified for the roles but also displayed enthusiasm during the interview process, providing positive client feedback. Both companies did their bit too by selling the job to the candidates. Being a recruiter is a rewarding industry and I am lucky to have worked in it for over 25 years. The worst bit is doing these flaming LinkedIn posts every day. I’m rubbish at marketing. I spend AGES trying to find a picture to fit the text. This one is particularly rubbish. It's some random bloke looking at a target. I’m better at recruiting than I am at marketing that’s for sure!

💥 Great Opportunity in the West Midlands💥 Job Specification: Technical Estimator Position & Authority In this role, you will report directly to the Technical Sales Manager. You will be required to frequently interact with other departments, including sales, production, expediting, subcontractors, and quality personnel. You will have the authority to question any instruction you believe to be incorrect and raise your concern with any of these departments. General Duties: Evaluate Customer Specifications: Analyse customer specifications and requirements to develop accurate and competitive cost estimates. Job Estimation: Estimate customer jobs, including bills of material and the optimal manufacturing route. This may include sourcing components from alternative suppliers. Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as the sales team to ensure all aspects of enquiries are considered during the estimation process. Estimating Enquiries: Handle estimating enquiries for the Sales Department. Material Purchasing: Purchase materials for quotations created by you or your colleagues. Data Analysis and Interpretation: Analyse data, read drawings, and specifications. Project Management: Manage multiple projects while ensuring all deadlines are met. Order Loading and Job Building: Load orders and build jobs on the computer system using the most efficient methods. It really doesn't matter which discipline you are working in; your understanding of first principles will become the foundation from which your career grows. Regardless of design software, spreadsheets, or other IP your company may be using, a solid understanding of first principles will not only help you think your way through technical interview questions when you make your first career change; it will also be fundamental when it comes to mentoring juniors, project leadership, and stakeholder management, especially when needing to defend design decisions or provide guidance to people who aren't from an engineering background.
