Politics
The Step-Up Sorority is the UK’s 1st BAME sorority, forming connections for under-represented young women at the start of their careers, helping to get them into the industry of their dreams after studying. The Step-Up Sorority provides “little sisters” with a network of high-profile, successful “big sisters”, that will give them the representation, resources and support they need to get into the careers of their dreams.
Essentially, a sisterhood for success.

As an SMF Mentor, I am responsible for helping a young person on the Aspiring Professionals Programme (APP) on a one-to-one basis via email. Over 9 months, I will be supporting a young person by increasing their understanding of their desired career and professional life. By giving them useful insights into how to get a job like mine, or similar, the intention is to help them to develop and reach their potential. I'll also help them explore their professional interests further, support them in their university application, general skills development, as well as supporting them with other new experiences they are facing, such as their first internship or first job. -
